A Soft‐Tip Hydraulically Steerable Catheter for Enhanced Flexibility and Safety in Vascular Interventions

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces a hydraulically steerable catheter with a soft tip in vascular procedures. The steering soft tip achieves a minimal diameter of 2.6 mm and supports a 180° bend. Real‐time shape and position tracking, facilitated by segmentation and endpoint detection techniques, improves navigation.

Insect‐Inspired Resilient Machines

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study presents a decentralized resilient control for legged robots, enabling self‐organized locomotion and rapid adaptation to extreme leg loss within seconds. It encodes the self‐embodied resilience strategies observed in stick insects and relies on neural dynamics with synaptic plasticity, minimal sensory feedback, and dynamic robot–environment ...

Neonatal Respiration Monitoring System with Synchronized Oxygen Supply and Machine Learning‐Based Breathing Classification

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
The study presents a low‐cost, noninvasive system for real‐time neonatal respiratory monitoring. A flexible, screen‐printed sensor patch captures chest movements with high sensitivity and minimal drift. Combined with machine learning, the system accurately detects breathing patterns and offers a practical solution for neonatal care in low‐resource ...

Facts and Misfacts on D‐Dimer Testing. Consensus Guidance From the Italian Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis (SISET)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT D‐dimer defines degradation products derived from the proteolysis mediated by plasmin on cross‐linked fibrin. The evidence‐based use of D‐dimer in some conditions has been consolidated. Currently, however, there is an entrenched prescription of D‐dimer testing to screen otherwise healthy subjects that may induce prescribing physicians to start

Early Enzyme Replacement Therapy Does Not Prevent the Protein Losing Enteropathy Syndrome in Neurovisceral Gaucher Disease

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gaucher disease (GD) is a rare lysosomal storage disorder characterized by multisystemic involvement. With the advent of enzyme replacement therapy (ERT), patient survival has improved, revealing new long‐term complications. We report a case of a 4‐year‐old male with severe neurovisceral GD who developed protein‐losing enteropathy (PLE ...
