Bioinspired Mechanisms and Actuation of Soft Robotic Crawlers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Researchers have been developing soft materials and robotic crawlers inspired by soft‐bodied animals to mimic effective crawling in complex environments. This review explores the state‐of‐the‐art in soft crawlers, highlighting the interaction between materials, crawling mechanisms, actuation, and applications. The review concludes by providing insights

A Hybrid Model and Learning-Based Force Estimation Framework for Surgical Robots [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Haptic feedback to the surgeon during robotic surgery would enable safer and more immersive surgeries but estimating tissue interaction forces at the tips of robotically controlled surgical instruments has proven challenging. Few existing surgical robots can measure interaction forces directly and the additional sensor may limit the life of instruments.

Leucine‐Rich Repeat‐Containing G Protein‐Coupled Receptor 6 Ameliorates Pressure Overload‐Induced Cardiac Hypertrophy by Regulating Cardiomyocyte Metabolic Reprogramming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LGR6 overexpression ameliorates cardiac hypertrophy by regulating metabolic reprogramming through USP4‐PPARα pathway. Abstract Metabolic reprogramming is a pivotal mechanism in the pathogenesis of pathological cardiac hypertrophy. Leucine‐rich repeat‐containing G protein‐coupled receptor 6 (Lgr6) has emerged as a significant player in cardiovascular ...

A Bio‐Adaptive Janus‐Adhesive Dressing with Dynamic Lubrication Overlayer for Prevention of Postoperative Infection and Adhesion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Slippery‐adhesive Janus gel dressing exhibits both stable tissue adhesive and outstanding efficiency in repelling physiological fluids. As a physical barrier, a liquid‐infused surface with a dynamic lubrication overlayer possesses excellent antibiofouling properties, making it highly effective in preventing bacterial infections and postoperative tissue

Identification of CD38high Monocyte as a Candidate Diagnostic Biomarker and Therapeutic Target for Sepsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers that CD38high monocytes discriminate sepsis and sterile inflammation and are associated with 28‐day mortality in bacterial sepsis. Targeting CD38 therapy reduces inflammatory response in monocytes and in sepsis mice model. Mechanistically, CD38‐HIF‐1α/glycolysis/MGO loop exacerbates sepsis‐induced immune dysregulation.

Two-stage combined treatment of leiomyosarcoma of iliac vein using robotic surgery

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2019
Vascular leiomyosarcoma is a rare tumor originating from the vascular smooth muscle cells. Leiomyosarcomas of the external iliac vein are extremely rare. Only single observations of this tumor are reported. We describe a 48-year-old woman who underwent a

Dense 3D Reconstruction Through Lidar: A Comparative Study on Ex-vivo Porcine Tissue [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
New sensing technologies and more advanced processing algorithms are transforming computer-integrated surgery. While researchers are actively investigating depth sensing and 3D reconstruction for vision-based surgical assistance, it remains difficult to achieve real-time, accurate, and robust 3D representations of the abdominal cavity for minimally ...
