Reconstruction of Complex Abdominal Wall Defects [PDF]

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Surgery, 2013
Complex abdominal wall defects refer to situations where simple ventral hernia repair is not feasible because the defect is very large, there is a concomitant infection or failed previous repair attempt, or if there is not enough original skin to cover the repair.

Concrete Structure Inspired 3D‐Printed Framework Mechanically Reinforced Zwitterionic Hydrogel for Efficient Postoperative Abdominal Adhesion Prevention

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by the establishment process and structure of concrete, a 3D‐printed PCL framework‐reinforced composite hydrogel is developed to overcome the mechanical limits of the original zwitterionic hydrogel toward clinic application of postoperative adhesion prevention.

NRF2‐REGγ‐ACADM/KLF15 Signaling Pathway Regulates the Browning of White Adipose Tissue to Modulate Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies that REGγ is elevated in obese adipose tissue. REGγ modulates WAT browning via ubiquitin‐independent ACADM/KLF15–UCP1 degradation. Overactivation of the NRF2–REGγ axis facilitates adipose tissue function to cause obesity. Inhibition of REGγ in the iWAT alleviates HFD‐induced obesity.

Mechanically Active Hydrogel for Healing Intestinal Fistulas through the YAP‐Mediated Mechanosensitization of Intestinal Epithelial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops the hydrogel with antimicrobial, adhesive, degradable, injectable, and temperature‐sensitive contraction properties based on the transcriptomic and pathological characteristics of intestinal fistula patients. This hydrogel can seal rabbit intestinal fistula in situ, reduce the intestinal defect, and promote intestinal epithelial ...
