Machine learning model identifies tibial anatomical variables as potential risk factors for anterior cruciate ligament injury

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The tibial slope is a well‐known risk factor for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. As machine learning continues to progress, it has become an increasingly explored tool for clinical screening and risk factor analysis. This study aims to develop and validate a prognostic machine learning model to predict the outcome of ACL ...

Synchronous Regeneration: Key Mechanism for Selective Reinnervation in Bilateral Vocal Fold Paralysis

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This study investigates the mechanisms behind the success of selective laryngeal reinnervation surgery in bilateral vocal fold paralysis. In an animal model, the surgery promoted neuromuscular regeneration and restored coordinated vocal fold movement, with no misdirected potentials observed.

A Novel Murine Model of Acute Laryngeal Injury After Intubation

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This study describes a novel murine model of acute laryngeal injury (ALgI) after intubation. Chemomechanical injury was performed to the posterior glottis of adult mice using a bleomycin‐dipped wire brush under endoscopic guidance, resulting in reduced glottic mobility, increased posterior glottic thickness, and increased collagen expression. This safe,

The Balancing Act: Ergonomic Challenges for Pregnant Microvascular Surgeons in the Operating Room

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the intraoperative ergonomic challenges faced by pregnant microvascular surgeons by comparing detailed motion‐analysis data collected at 36–37 weeks' gestation with postpartum assessments. Findings show that pregnancy significantly increases time spent in unsafe postures (particularly involving the neck, elbows, and knees), while ...

Placental‐Derived Connective Tissue Matrix Mediates Murine Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Regeneration

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Placentally derived connective tissue matrix (pd‐CTM) innately contains various neurotrophic, angiogenic, anti‐inflammatory, and tissue remodeling cytokines. In this mouse model of unilateral vocal fold paralysis, we investigate its effects on recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) regeneration and reinnervation of the right thyroarytenoid (TA) muscle after ...
