Rational points on even‐dimensional Fermat cubics
Abstract We show that even‐dimensional Fermat cubic hypersurfaces are rational over any field of characteristic not equal to three, by constructing explicit rational parameterizations with polynomials of low degree. As a byproduct of our rationality constructions, we obtain estimates for the number of their rational points over a number field and ...

Detectable gravitational wave signals from inflationary preheating
We consider gravitational wave (GW) production during preheating in hybrid inflation models where an axion-like waterfall field couples to Abelian gauge fields.

Abelian varieties over finite fields as basic abelian varieties [PDF]
Abstract In this note we show that any basic abelian variety with additional structures over an arbitrary algebraically closed field of characteristic p > 0

Abelian number fields with frobenian conditions
Abstract We study the distribution of abelian number fields with frobenian conditions imposed on the conductor. In particular, we find an asymptotic for the number of abelian field extensions of a number field k$k$ whose conductor is the sum of two squares. We also discuss an application of the Brauer group of stacks to quadratic number fields.

On the Hodge conjecture for products of certain surfaces [PDF]
In this thesis we prove the Hodge conjecture for products of smooth projective surfaces S(_1) x S(_2), where S(_2) = A is an Abelian surface and S (_1) is such that P(_g)(S(_1)) = 1, q = 2.

Heights on a subvariety of an abelian variety [PDF]
Extending Ullmo–Zhang's result on the Bogomolov conjecture, we give conditions that a closed subvariety of an abelian variety A defined over a number field is isomorphic to an abelian variety in terms of the value distribution of a Neron–Tate height ...

Note on quasivarieties generated by finite pointed abelian groups
We prove that a finite pointed abelian group generates a finitely axiomatizable variety that has a finite quasivariety lattice. As a consequence, we obtain that a quasivariety generated by a finite pointed abelian group has a finite basis of quasi ...

Free semigroups of large critical exponent
Abstract For a convergence group equipped with an expanding coarse‐cocycle, we construct finitely generated free subsemigroups, which we call Bishop−−Jonessemigroups$\textit{Bishop--Jones semigroups}$, of critical exponent arbitrarily close to but strictly less than the critical exponent of the ambient group.

A sharp Bogomolov-type bound [PDF]
We prove a sharp lower bound for the essential minimum of a nontranslate variety in certain abelian varieties. This uses and generalises a result of Galateau.

Miyaoka–Yau inequalities and the topological characterization of certain klt varieties
Ball quotients, hyperelliptic varieties, and projective spaces are characterized by their Chern classes, as the varieties where the Miyaoka–Yau inequality becomes an equality.
