Abstract About half of all plant species rely on animals such as scatter‐hoarding small mammals for seed dispersal. These plants include many keystone species for which small mammals are key primary and secondary dispersal agents as well as seed predators.

Incipient Speciation Amongst Abies balsamea on Mount Moosilauke, New Hampshire
Like other conifers Abies balsamea (L.) Mill. is pollinated by wind, but how pollen moves among populations, affecting local genetic variation, has not been studied.

Pathogenicity tests of Gremmeniella abietina var. balsamea isolated from balsam fir in Canada
The pathogenicity of Gremmeniella abietina var. balsamea isolated from balsam fir (Abies balsamea) was tested on different conifer hosts, including A. balsamea. Pathogenicity of the fungus was positive on balsam fir only.

Climate change has rapidly expanded and shifted suitable climate conditions for eight major forest pests across North America, especially toward northern and higher elevation areas. Host exposure and overlap among pests are increasing, raising ecological and economic risks, and signaling accelerating future impacts under continued warming.

Temporal pattern in basal area prediction error of a growth model for Quebec’s temperate forest
Pour les utilisateurs, l’évaluation des performances et de la fiabilité d’un modèle de croissance est essentielle. Cependant, les biais spécifiques à l’espèce et à l’année d’observation sont rarement signalés, bien que des changements dans les conditions

Host‐tree identity, particularly bark physico‐chemical traits, emerged as the dominant driver of epiphytic lichen and bryophyte community composition in this closed‐canopy temperate forest system, while microclimate plays a subordinate role. Spatial structure and proximity contributed additional effects for both groups, but for lichens, habitat ...

Variation in reproductive potential across a multi-species treeline
Cone and seed production at the forest-tundra ecotone, or treeline, depend on species-specific tolerances to limiting abiotic and biotic factors. As range expansion via seed dispersal is needed to keep pace with climate change, reproductive limitations ...

Boreal tree regeneration after fire and fuelwood harvesting in coastal Nunatsiavut
Consecutive landscape-scale disturbances are known to influence boreal forest regeneration, yet few published data exist on the compounding effects of natural and anthropogenic disturbance on regeneration in subarctic forests.
