Ability to pay for retiree health benefits.

open access: yesInquiry : a journal of medical care organization, provision and financing, 1994
This paper examines retired persons who received employer-provided health benefits in 1987. The sociodemographic, health, and economic characteristics of these elderly persons are compared to the total elderly population. Two methods of estimating retiree insurance purchase are considered and indicate 13% to 20% of retirees would be unable to afford ...

Dynamic Regulation of Supramolecular Chirality in an Amphiphilic Dimeric Macrocycle Through Azobenzene‐Based Photoisomerization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A stimuli‐responsive supramolecular system has been rationally designed enabling hierarchical control over supramolecular handedness. This hybrid architecture retains orthogonal host‐guest properties and displays unique amphiphilicity‐directed chiral self‐assembly.

Engineering Neuronal Network Connectivity Through Precise and Scalable Electrical Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a scalable all‐electrical method for precise neuronal‐circuit reconfiguration based on high‐density microelectrode arrays. By employing biologically inspired plasticity rules, targeted connectivity changes were successfully induced and quantified across diverse neuronal preparations.

Estimating Irrigators' Ability to Pay for Reclamation Water

open access: yes
The reclamation program sets prices based on irrigators' ability to pay for water. In contrast to the traditional approach (the farm budget study), this research develops a model of irrigator profit and ability to pay. The shadow price (marginal revenue)

GLS1 Orchestrates Exosome‐Mediated Tumor‐Endothelial Communication to Facilitate Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a previously unappreciated, non‐metabolic function of GLS1 in the control of tumor angiogenesis via exosome‐mediated CAV1‐TNC signaling, indicating that therapeutic targeting of GLS1 may offer a dual benefit by simultaneously suppressing tumor metabolic activity and angiogenic processes in head and neck cancer. ABSTRACT Glutaminase 1

Rational Design of Weakly‐Solvating Molecules for Salt‐In‐Pre‐Ionic‐Liquid Electrolytes for Li Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The weakly‐solvating TFMSPyr electrolyte tailors the Li+ solvation structure by suppressing solvent coordination and promoting anion‐dominated solvation. This unique solvation environment induces preferential anion decomposition at electrode interfaces, forming robust inorganic rich S/CEI.

Nano Carbon‐mesh with Excellent Bonding Performance via Hydro‐cage De‐shielding Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A hydro‐cage de‐shielding strategy transforms cellulose‐based films into a dragonfly‐wing‐like nano carbon‐mesh (NCM) adhesive through instantaneous carbonization‐polymerization. The resulting NCM‐plywood achieves exceptional wet shear strength (1.24 MPa at 63°C), exceeding Class II plywood standards, and retains 0.73 MPa after boiling‐water cycles ...
