Identification and functional characterization of JrbZIP40 in walnut reveals its role in salt and drought stress tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis seedlings

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Salt and drought are the primary environmental stress factors that severely threaten plant growth, development, and yield. bZIP transcription factors reportedly play crucial roles in plant responses to both biotic and abiotic stressors ...

‘Should’ and ‘can’ active restoration be used in biodiversity offsets? Stakeholder perspectives from New South Wales, Australia

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Despite their controversial nature, biodiversity offsets are often used as a regulatory tool to counterbalance the impacts of land clearing on biodiversity. Offsets usually aim to achieve no net loss (NNL) of biodiversity through protection and/or restoration of habitat.

Comprehensive DIA‐MS Proteomics of Root Basal Nodes Elucidates Mechanisms of Salt Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Soil salinity severely affects rice growth, yield, and quality, posing a global food security challenge. Rice is particularly vulnerable to high salinity, which restricts growth and tolerance to other stresses. To address this, breeding efforts have been made in the past, leading to the generation of multi‐stress‐tolerant rice lines.

Potential of Morpho-physiological Traits as Selection Criteria for Biotic and Abiotic Stress Resistance in Crops

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bio-Resource and Stress Management, 2012
Increasing global warming associated with several abiotic stresses such as drought, salinity, heat stress etc. are affecting crop productivity drastically, thereby, threatening food security and increasing hunger.

Conjugated Polymers Engineered for Flexible/Stretchable Electronics

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
This review highlights glass transition temperature (Tg) as the central parameter linking molecular structure to device performance in conjugated polymers. By tuning backbone rigidity, side‐chain architecture, and dynamic bonding, Tg governs the balance between π–π stacking–enabled charge transport and mechanical compliance.

Integrating tunable LED‐induced plant responses with novel solar cell technologies for energy‐efficient agrivoltaic systems

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
The increasing demand for sustainable food production requires innovative solutions that balance productivity, resource efficiency, and environmental impact. Vertical Farming Systems (VFSs) offer a promising approach; however, their high energy consumption remains challenging.

Made in the shade: Leaf responses of native wildflowers to single‐axis photovoltaic solar energy

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
As solar energy expands globally, balancing renewable power generation with biodiversity and ecosystem health has become an urgent challenge. This study investigated how native wildflowers respond at leaf level to the unique microclimates created by rotating solar panels in California's Central Valley.

Speciation with gene flow

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Biodiversity is threatened by human activities, with extinction debt accumulating rapidly. Many of these activities change the connectivity of populations, fragmenting existing population systems or bringing previously isolated populations or species into contact.
