Hand osteoarthritis in the Abkhazian population

The aim of the study was to evaluate the prevalence and pattern of radiographic hand osteoarthritis (OA) in an Abkhazian community-based sample and its association with age, sex, body mass index (BMI) and place of residence. In order to study the peculiarities of aging of the blood circulatory system, an epidemiological investigation of long-living humans (subjects aged 90 years and over) was performed in three villages of Abkhazia.
