Pharmacological strategies in lung cancer-induced cachexia: effects on muscle proteolysis, autophagy, structure, and weakness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Muscle wasting and cachexia are important systemic manifestations of highly prevalent conditions including cancer. Inflammation, oxidative stress, autophagy, ubiquitin-proteasome system, nuclear factor (NF)-kB, and mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPK)

Ubiquitination of transcription factors in cancer: unveiling therapeutic potential

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In cancer, dysregulated ubiquitination of transcription factors contributes to the uncontrolled growth and survival characteristics of tumors. Tumor suppressors are degraded by aberrant ubiquitination, or oncogenic transcription factors gain stability through ubiquitination, thereby promoting tumorigenesis.

Functional data analytic approach of modeling ECG T-wave shape to measure cardiovascular behavior

open access: yes, 2010
The T-wave of an electrocardiogram (ECG) represents the ventricular repolarization that is critical in restoration of the heart muscle to a pre-contractile state prior to the next beat.

Drug reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS) / Drug-induced Hypersensitivity Syndrome (DIHS): a review of current concepts.

open access: yesAnais Brasileiros de Dermatologia, 2012
The Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms syndrome, also known as Drug Induced Hypersensitivity Syndrome presents clinically as an extensive mucocutaneous rash, accompanied by fever, lymphadenopathy, hepatitis, hematologic abnormalities ...

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

The Effects of Carvedilol and Vitamin E on Sodium Valproate-Induced Skeletal Teratogenicity in Rat Fetuses

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2017
Background: Sodium valproate, an anticonvulsant drug, has teratogenic effects on humans’ and animals’ skeletal system via causing free radicals and oxidative stress.

Comprehensive omics‐based classification system in adult patients with B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The COMBAT classification system, developed through multi‐omics integration, stratifies adult patients with B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia(B‐ALL) into three molecular subtypes with distinct surface antigen patterns, immune landscape, methylation patterns, biological pathways and prognosis.

Estimating the risk of drug-induced proarrhythmia using human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes.

open access: yesToxicological Sciences, 2011
Improved in vitro systems for predicting drug-induced toxicity are needed in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries to decrease late-stage drug attrition.

Molecular imaging predicts trastuzumab‐deruxtecan (T‐DXd) response in head and neck cancer xenograft models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Trastuzumab‐deruxtecan, a HER2‐targeting antibody‐drug conjugate, shows promising antitumor activity in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma with low HER2 expression. In vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated dose‐dependent cell death and tumor growth reduction in low HER2‐expressing cell lines, which correlated with drug accumulation measured using a

Diphenylhydantoin (phenytoin)-induced chronic pulmonary disease

open access: yesLung India, 2009
Drug-induced respiratory diseases are difficult to diagnose and therefore usually not identified, probably underestimated and under-reported. We report a case of diphenylhydantoin/phenytoin-induced chronic pulmonary disease in a 62-year-old male patient ...
