Breast Milk Proteome: Changes in the Different Stages of Lactation and Impacts of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and Body Mass Index

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
We analyzed colostrum and breast milk from 47 mothers to see how proteins change over time and with maternal health. Colostrum had more immune proteins, while mature milk had proteins linked to growth support. Gestational diabetes and higher BMI altered the protein composition.

“It's just us”: Families' experiences with temporary tube feeding

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Children with temporary feeding tubes are discharged home with increasing frequency, yet little is known about how families adapt and manage in their home environment. Characterization of Visceral Adipose Tissue Proteome Reveals Metabolic Changes and Inflammatory Signatures in Severe Obesity

open access: yesObesity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Severe obesity poses a major public health concern due to its links with cardiometabolic complications and mortality. Visceral adipose tissue (VAT) plays a key role in these processes through distinct molecular features. This study aimed to characterize the VAT proteome of individuals with severe obesity and investigate its ...

Carbon and corms: Introduced ungulates and saltwater intrusion variably impact coastal floodplain ecosystem services in the Laynhapuy Indigenous Protected Area, northern Australia

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Carbon and biodiversity offset markets have been proposed to finance management solutions for introduced ungulates across northern Australian coastal wetlands. However, few studies have quantified how ungulate removal may affect ecosystem services important to local Indigenous communities, especially considering coincident saltwater intrusion.

A social license to operate theory for lethal control of crown‐of‐thorns starfish on the Great Barrier Reef

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Outbreaks of crown‐of‐thorns starfish (COTS) have been recorded on the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) since 1962 and have considerable ecological and economic impact. Monitoring and control of COTS to predict, prevent and mitigate outbreaks is an important part of the ongoing protection of the GBR.
