Molecular genetic basis of the histo-blood group ABO system
Nature, 1990The histo-blood group ABO, the major human alloantigen system, involves three carbohydrate antigens (ABH). A, B and AB individuals express glycosyltransferase activities converting the H antigen into A or B antigens, whereas O(H) individuals lack such activity. Here we present a molecular basis for the ABO genotypes.

The histo‐blood group ABO system and tissue transplantation
Transfusion, 1998In general, one might expect that ABO incompatibility of donor and recipient would be important to some degree if viability of the transplanted allograft is important for graft incorporation and function. This is true for some recipients of organs. However, ABO incompatibility appears to play a minor role, if any, in the clinical success of viable ...

The Association between Endometrial Cancer and Blood Groups of the ABO System
Tumori Journal, 1968The authors consider the distribution of the phenotypes of ABO system in a group of 115 patients with histologically diagnosed endometrial adenocarcinoma and in a random semple of the population. The above group is combined with a larger one taken from the literature in the search for phenotypical correlations.

Biochemistry and Genetics of the ABO, Lewis, and P Blood Group Systems
1980Many inherited polymorphisms in plasma proteins and in enzyme activities of red blood cells are now available as genetic markers to differentiate bloods within a species (see Giblett, 1969, and Harris, 1975). However, the term “blood groups” is still usually retained to describe antigenic differences detected on the red cell surface by means of ...
