Levels of thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor and platelet-activating factor in recurrent pregnancy loss patients

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2016
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate factors associated with thrombosis that may contribute to recurrent pregnancy loss (habitual abortion), specifically differences in serum levels of platelet-activating factor and thrombin-activatable ...

Metabolism and gene polymorphisms of the folate pathway in Brazilian women with history of recurrent abortion [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ginecologia e Obstetrícia, 2015
PURPOSE: To investigate the association between polymorphisms in genes that encode enzymes involved in folate- and vitamin B12-dependent homocysteine metabolism and recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA).METHODS: We investigated the C677T and A1298C ...

Insights on caesarean section in the southern tamandua (Tamandua tetradactyla)

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract An adult female southern tamandua (Tamandua tetradactyla) was rescued and taken to a veterinary centre for wildlife care. The patient's evaluation revealed an abnormal neurological status, along with prostration, diarrhoea, dehydration and bilateral corneal ulcers. Insecticide poisoning (carbamate, organophosphate or organochlorine) and canine

Comparison of Two Therapeutic Protocols : Heparin with Aspirin VS Prednisolone with Aspirin, in Patients with Recurrent Miscarriages

open access: yesJournal of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences, 2007
Background and Purpose: The most common complication of pregnancy is abortion. The etiology of recurrent pregnancy loss is not completely known. There are few therapeutics and diagnostic strategies in recurrent abortion.

Hunting, but not outdoor recreation, modulates behavioural tolerance to human disturbance in Alpine marmots Marmota marmota

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Humans are often perceived as predators by free‐living animals, and thus, even non‐consumptive human activities such as outdoor recreation may trigger behavioural and physiological responses, often with negative consequences on individual fitness and population persistence.

ADAMTS-3, -13, -16, and -19 levels in patients with habitual abortion

open access: yesKaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, 2017
A disintegrin-like and metalloproteinase domain with thrombospondin-type 1 motifs (ADAMTS) protein superfamily includes 19 secreted metalloproteases. Proteolytic substrates of ADAMTS enzymes have been linked to reproductive function.

Harbingers of change: Towards a mechanistic understanding of anticipatory plasticity in animal systems

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Phenotypic plasticity is a strategy by which animals alter behaviour, morphology and/or physiology in response to cues of current conditions to cope with environmental heterogeneity.

Phenological selection mosaic of predispersal seed predation affects gender variation in an andromonoecious plant

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, EarlyView.
Spatiotemporal variation in seed predation can act as a selective force on floral gender. The floral sex allocation of an alpine andromonoecious herb varied among local populations. Early‐flowering populations suffered from intensive seed predation by moth larvae, where male‐biased sex allocation was advantageous in reducing the risk of oviposition. In

Phenology of Richeria grandis Vahl: A dioecious species with wide geographical distribution and unique environmental specificity

open access: yesPlant Species Biology, EarlyView.
Richeria grandis exhibits synchronized and highly seasonal reproductive phenology, emphasizing its strong dependence on local climate dynamics. The species' supra‐annual fruit production and evergreen vegetative habit highlight adaptive strategies for resource utilization and ecosystem balance.
