Above Ground Forest Phytomass Assessment in Southern Gujarat

Journal of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing, 2011
Spectral modeling of above ground biomass (AGB) with field data collected in 48 field sites representing moist deciduous forest in Surat district is reported. Models were generated using LISS-III and MODIS data. The plot-wise field data was aggregated to MODIS pixel (250 m) using area weightages of forest/vegetation. The study reports that above ground

Estimation of total above-ground phytomass production using remotely sensed data

Remote Sensing of Environment, 1985
Remote sensing potentially offers a quick and nondestructive method for monitoring plant canopy condition and development. In this study, multispectral reflectance and thermal emittance data were used in conjunction with micrometeorological data in a simple model to estimate above-ground total dry phytomass production of several spring wheat canopies ...

Short Communication:A technique to quantify available above-ground phytomass of grass tufts in defoliation studies.

open access: yes, 1991
A technique to quantify available above-ground phytomass of grass tufts in defoliation studies is described. Highly significant correlations were found between tuft volume and above-ground phytomass in eighteen out of twenty-two species that were examined. Tuft volume can therefore be used to calculate the above-ground phytomass of a tuft.

The dynamics of accumulation of above-ground phytomass by technogenic communities in the course of their natural progressive successional replacement in the Norilsk Industrial District

Contemporary Problems of Ecology, 2009
It has been revealed that the above-ground phytomass in pit-wall communities increases most rapidly during the first succession stage, i.e., when plants colonize bare grounds. In following succession stages, the accumulation of phytomass slows down, with phytocenotic composition changing considerably.

STRUCTURE AND DISTRIBUTION OF ABOVE-GROUND PHYTOMASS OF THE TUNDRA COMMUNITIES OF WESTERN SIBERIA

2020
In this article we summarize the quantitative data on the aboveground phytomass of tundra communities collected during the expeditions of the Russian Center for Arctic Development on the Yamal, Taz and Gydan Peninsulas in 2017-2018. The phytomass was studied within formations of various plant communities of three subzones of the West Siberian tundra ...

Influence of tree cover on herbaceous above- and below-ground phytomass in the Sahelian zone of Senegal

open access: yesJournal of Arid Environments, 1997
An experimental study was undertaken on a complex ecological system in the semi-arid Sahelian region of Senegal. The effects of tree cover on the above- and below-ground phytomass of the herbaceous layer were studied.

Above-ground phytomass of a tropical deciduous forest on the coast of Jalisco, México

Journal of Tropical Ecology, 1992
ABSTRACT Phytomass was determined for a tropical deciduous forest in Chamela, Jalisco, México. The mean canopy height was 6.9 m, and the total basal area was 25.6 m2 ha−1 (dbh > 3.0 cm). The estimated phytomass for this forest (85 Mg ha−1) is among the highest values for tropical dry forests with similar seasonal climates.
