The A101 accession is the first confirmed case of hydroxyphenyl pyruvate dioxygenase resistance in Amaranthus tuberculatus in Wisconsin, and the first report of P450s associated with atrazine resistance in A. tuberculatus globally. Abstract BACKGROUND A preliminary screening identified a multiple herbicide‐resistant waterhemp, Amaranthus tuberculatus ...

Geomorphic Responses to Post‐Grazing Recovery and Stream Restoration in Semiarid Grassland Streams
ABSTRACT Semiarid grassland streams are sensitive to land use, climate, extreme discharges, and internal geomorphic thresholds that drive episodic erosion. Rooted in a process‐based philosophy and commonly applied to historically wood‐rich, beaver‐modified systems, low‐tech process‐based restoration using structures is increasingly being extended to ...

Estimation of aboveground biomass using airborne LiDAR data
In this study a semi-empirical model that was originally developed for stem volume estimation is used for aboveground biomass (AGB) estimation. The semi-empirical model is based on the relative heights of first echo LiDAR point cloud data and assumes a linear relationship between AGB and canopy volume.

Tree canopy height is a key indicator of forest biomass and structure, yet accurate mapping across the Amazon remains challenging. Here, we generated a canopy height map of the Amazon forest at ~4.8 m resolution using Planet NICFI imagery and a deep learning U‐Net model trained with airborne LiDAR data.

Temperate fens with only incipient, subtle signs of deterioration can be reliably identified using Sentinel‐2 and aerial imagery, which sensitively detect early productivity‐related structural changes. Abstract Small temperate fens rank among the most endangered habitats in temperate Europe.

Handheld lidar sensors can accurately measure aboveground biomass
AbstractMany recent studies have explored remote sensing approaches to facilitate non‐destructive sampling of aboveground biomass (AGB). Lidar platforms (e.g., iPhone and iPad PRO models) have recently made remote sensing technologies widely available and present an alternative to traditional approaches for estimating AGB.

New opportunities for grassland species in warming temperate winters
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Temperate winters are getting warmer, the length of the growing season is increasing and mid‐winter fluctuations of warm and freezing temperatures are more frequent. Although typically winter dormant, some herbaceous perennials can maintain or grow green leaves during ...

Aboveground biomass estimation in conifer and deciduous forests with the use of a combined approach
The complex action of environmental factors often triggers the biomass formation in forest plantations, which is crucial for carbon balance and environmental monitoring, especially in the context of climate change. In this article, we present data on the
