Aboveground Biomass of Grassland
2019Biomass is an important component of grassland ecosystems and plays a critical role in the sustainable use of grassland resources and the global carbon cycle. Satellite remote sensing provides an important approach for estimating aboveground biomass (AGB) at large spatial scales while biomass harvesting offers reliable and site-specific biomass ...

POST-DISTURBANCE ABOVEGROUND BIOMASS ACCUMULATION IN GLOBAL SECONDARY FORESTS
Ecology, 2000To examine rates of aboveground biomass accumulation (ABA) in global secondary forests following stand-clearing disturbances, we compiled aboveground biomass data from 283 known-age plots drawn from chronosequence and long-term studies. We focused on three likely influences on ABA for which data are readily available: climate, soil texture, and forest ...

Estimating Aboveground Plant Biomass Using a Photographic Technique
Journal of Range Management, 2000We present a non-destructive, photographic method to estimate biomass in semiarid grasslands. Though the method needs to be calibrated, it allows for a dramatic increase in the number of samples compared with the clipping method. The method is based on a relationship between the percentage or "green pixels" in a digital image and green biomass.

[Aboveground biomass of three conifers in Qianyanzhou plantation].
Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2007In this paper, the regressive models of the aboveground biomass of Pinus elliottii, P. massoniana and Cunninghamia lanceolata in Qianyanzhou of subtropical China were established, and the regression analysis on the dry weight of leaf biomass and total biomass against branch diameter (d), branch length (L), d3 and d2L was conducted with linear, power ...

[Estimation of aboveground biomass of desert plants].
Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2004Based on the research of plant quadrate in Sangong River Basin in Xinjiang, the fitted equations were given, which could be used to estimate the aboveground biomass of typical desert plant by using the thicket characteristics such as length of crown diameter, width of crown diameter, number of basal branch, length of new branch, basal diameter (D) and ...

Aboveground biomass estimation for Italian poplar SRF
2005One critical aspect for operators of the wood energy market is the quantification of above ground biomass production in establishing contracts before harvest. The preparation of a biomass regression equation for individual SRF yield is expensive and time-consuming for most operators.

[Aboveground architecture and biomass distribution of Quercus variabilis].
Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2016The aboveground architecture, biomass and its allocation, and the relationship between architecture and biomass of Quercus variabilis of different diameter classes in Shangluo, south slope of Qinling Mountains were researched. The results showed that differences existed in the aboveground architecture and biomass allocation of Q.

Aboveground Forest Biomass and the Global Carbon Balance
Global Change Biology, 2005AbstractThe long‐term net flux of carbon between terrestrial ecosystems and the atmosphere has been dominated by two factors: changes in the area of forests and per hectare changes in forest biomass resulting from management and regrowth. While these factors are reasonably well documented in countries of the northern mid‐latitudes as a result of ...

ABOVEGROUND BIOMASS AND CARBON STORAGE RELATIONSHIP OF TURKISH PINES
2015Data related to carbon storage capacities of forests have become increasingly important in the context of global warming. Following the Kyoto Protocol, countries need to understand the carbon storage abilities of their forests in order to perform true declarations.
