Friction and wear behaviour and abradability of abradable seal coating [PDF]

open access: yesWear, 1999
The friction and wear behaviour of several kinds of middle temperature abradable seal coatings used in aircraft turbine engine was investigated. Their abradability was evaluated by sliding worn volume. The mechanisms of the sliding wear of the coatings are abrasive wear, adhesive wear and oxidation wear, but the weight of the adhesive wear and abrasive

Towards the Determination of Machining Allowances and Surface Roughness of 3D-Printed Parts Subjected to Abrasive Flow Machining

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing, 2021
Abrasive flow machining (AFM) is considered as one of the best-suited techniques for surface finishing of laser powder bed fused (LPBF) parts. In order to determine the AFM-related allowances to be applied during the design of LPBF parts, a numerical ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Enhancing the rate dependent fiber/matrix interfacial resistance of ultra-high-performance cement composites through surface abrasion

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
Surface-treated steel fibers were developed for enhancing the dynamic pullout performance from ultra-high-performance cement composites (UHPCC). To this end, three types of straight steel fibers with a smooth surface (plain) and longitudinal and ...

Duplex Stainless Steel Laser‐Surface Textured: Stability in Brine Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled laser‐surface treatment (LST) of duplex DSS2205 steel is performed to increase its stability in brine solution under cyclic electrochemical assays. The superior protection with respect to flat and smooth panels is attributed to the presence of FeCr2O4 as the main protective oxide layer in the LST surface, after corrosion tests. The stability
