Dynamic evolution of interface roughness during friction and wear processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Dynamic evolution of surface roughness and influence of initial roughness (Sa=0.282 to 6.73 µm) during friction and wear processes has been analyzed experimentally.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Simple Approach for Evaluation of Abrasive Mixing Efficiency for Abrasive Waterjet Rock Cutting

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The abrasive mixing variables, such as the abrasive and water flow rates and the focus geometry parameters, determine the profitability of an abrasive waterjet system. In this study, the mixing efficiency characteristics in abrasive waterjet rock cutting

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Proposals of high frictional and low aggressive abrasion (The effect of abrasive shape and disc material for degree of wear)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2014
Nowadays, high frictional and low aggressive disc brake is required. For designing it, we have had to depend on empirical way because brake pad is complicated composite.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

On the multi-scale nature of ski–snow friction in cold conditions

open access: yesFriction
In the Olympic winter sports cross-country skiing and the biathlon, athletes aim to minimise resistive forces such as aerodynamic drag, gravity, and ski–snow friction to enhance performance.
