ABRASIVE WEAR MECHANISM

open access: yes, 2023
Wear - is a change in the size, shape, mass or condition of the surface of a product or structure due to destruction (wear) of the surface layer. Abrasive wear is the destruction of the surface by hard abrasive grains. There are two possible types of impact of abrasive grains on the surface.

Engineering the Assembly Freedom of Donor–Acceptor Type Self‐Assembled Monolayers Toward Efficient and Stable Flexible Perovskite Photovoltaics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Assembly freedom engineering breaks the vertical alignment constraint of donor–acceptor self‐assembled monolayers, tuning their assembly freedom to achieve quasi‐random molecular orientation. This strategy simultaneously boosts interfacial charge transport and mechanical robustness, enabling high‐efficiency and mechanically stable flexible perovskite ...

Material Before Morphology: Substrate‐Dependent Mechanical Tuning of Radular Teeth

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Substrate‐dependent material tuning in Clausilia radular teeth. Closely related taxa retain a conserved gross tooth morphology, but differ in elemental composition and mechanical properties according to feeding substrate. Rock‐associated taxa show increased Ca–Si enrichment and higher stiffness and hardness, especially in the central radular region ...

Surface‐Anchored Microgel‐Based Films as Anti‐Icing Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The microgel‐based anti‐icing coatings presented in this work reduce ice adhesion by up to 90% on various substrates. This effect can be attributed to the incorporated functional cationic moieties binding a lubricating layer of quasi‐liquid interfacial water.
