The past 20 years have seen major advances in the diagnosis and management of brain abscess, with a corresponding improvement in the survival rates. The advances in radiographic scanning, the availability of new antimicrobials, and the development of novel surgical techniques have all contributed to the decreases in associated morbidity and mortality ...

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) pathogenesis remains unclear. This study reveals that thymus‐originated IL‐7R‐enriched extracellular vesicles exacerbate colitis by promoting neutrophil extracellular traps via a thymus‐gut axis, uncovering an inter‐organ communication mechanism in inflammatory bowel disease pathogenesis.

Delayed Open Chest Closure in Prosthetic Aortic Root Endocarditis: a Case Report [PDF]
Surgical therapy for aortic valve endocarditis can be complicated by paravalvular abscess formation, which is associated with high morbidity and mortality. We report a case of complicated infective endocarditis treated using a delayed sternalclosure (DSC)

ABSTRACT Mast cells (MCs), key innate immune sentinels at the host–environment interface, serve as primary responders to invading pathogens. However, their specific contribution to host defense against cutaneous Candida albicans (C. albicans) infection and their synergy with other immune and non‐immune cells remain poorly understood. Here, we show that

Abscess within a brain metastasis
Detection of metastases especially intracranial metastases signals a poor prognosis in a patient with cancer. Solitary cystic metastasis is often difficult to differentiate from intra-cerebral abscess which can also occur in these patients.

This study presents an ultrasound‐responsive nanoplatform, CS‐BT@MZ@NEs, with a BaTiO3/Mn‐Zif‐8 core and a chondroitin sulfate coating for Golgi targeting. By leveraging neutrophil hitchhiking, it enables targeted delivery to infection sites. Under ultrasound stimulation, CS‐BT@MZ@NEs generates ROS and modulates Golgi pH to activate cGAS–STING ...

Periprosthetic joint infection establishes a sophisticated immunosuppressive network between CXCR4+ PMN‐MDSCs and Bregs, inducing profound CD8+ T cell paralysis. Alendronate effectively disrupts this CXCR4+ PMN‐MDSC–Breg axis by targeting STAT3, thereby restoring local immune surveillance.

Imaging of a subcutaneous abscessation in the back of a calf with hindlimb paralysis
Background: Ultrasonography is not chosen as the common imaging modality to diagnose spinal cord diseases. The present report indicates good diagnostic efficacy of ultrasonography for identifying spinal cord compressed by subcutaneous mass when scanning
