Romanian Business Environment in the Context of Economic Competitiveness Based on Knowledge [PDF]

open access: yesRisk in Contemporary Economy, 2012
The changes of production factors priorities affect more and more the evolution of global economy, requiring reorientation of development policies both at company level and at national economies level to adapt to the phenomenon called: “the new economy ...

Absolute activity of gold foil measurement using coincidence method to determine absolute neutron flux of zero power reactor [PDF]

open access: yesمجله علوم و فنون هسته‌ای, 2019
To perform an effective experimental implementation in a zero- power reactor or more generally, critical assemblies, it is necessary to measure the total neutron flux to calibrate the reactor power. The 4πβ-γ coincidence method via the activation of gold

Absolute torsion and eta-invariant

open access: yes, 1999
In a recent joint work with V. Turaev (cf. math.DG/9810114) we defined a new concept of combinatorial torsion which we called absolute torsion. Compared with the classical Reidemeister torsion it has the advantage of having a well-defined sign. Also, the

For Richer or For Poorer? Evidence from Indonesia, South Africa, Spain, and Venezuela [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We analyze household income dynamics using longitudinal data from Indonesia, South Africa (KwaZulu-Natal), Spain and Venezuela. In all four countries, households with the lowest reported base-year income experienced the largest absolute income gains ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

New Absolute Stability Conditions of Lur’e Systems with Time-Varying Delay

open access: yesJournal of Control Science and Engineering, 2015
This paper is focused on the absolute stability of Lur’e systems with time-varying delay. Based on the quadratic separation framework, a complete delay-decomposing Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional is constructed. By considering the relationship between the

An Inverse Relative Age Effect in Male Alpine Skiers at the Absolute Top Level

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2017
The Relative Age Effect (RAE) can be described as the advantage of being born early after a certain cut-off date within a group of selection. The effect has been found across a wide range of sports and is particularly evident in pre-elite sports and team

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Statistical Interpolation of Tidal Datums and Computation of Its Associated Spatially Varying Uncertainty

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2016
Tidal datums are key components in NOAA’s Vertical Datum transformation project (VDatum). In this paper, we propose a statistical interpolation method, derived from the variational principle, to calculate tidal datums by blending the modeled and the ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
