Geochronology of the Suomenniemi rapakivi granite complex revisited: Implications of point-specific errors on zircon U-Pb and refined λ87 on whole-rock Rb-Sr [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 2015
Multi-grain isotope dilution and secondary ion microprobe zircon U-Pb as well as wholerock Rb-Sr isotope dilution data on the late Paleoproterozoic Suomenniemi rapakivi granite complex (exposed on the northern flank of the Wiborg batholith in ...

Pre-1.91 Ga deformation and metamorphism in the Palaeoproterozoic Vammala Migmatite Belt, southern Finland, and implications for Svecofennian tectonics [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 2004
A metamorphic event in the Vammala Migmatite Belt (VMB) at ~1.92 Ga, revealed by SHRIMP U-Pb analyses of both zircon overgrowths and monazite, is interpreted as post-depositional and is correlated with the development of the early high-grade schistosity.

The age of the ferropicritic volcanics and comagmatic Ni-bearing intrusions at Pechenga, Kola Peninsula, U.S.S.R. [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 1990
Sm-Nd, Pb-Pb and U-Pb isotopic results are presented for samples from the Pilgujärvi Suite of the Pechenga Series. Whole rock samples and clinopyroxenes of ferropicritic volcanics yield a Sm-Nd isochron age of 1990 ± 66 Ma with εNd + 1.6 ± 0.4.

Svecofennian intra-orogenic gabbroic magmatism: A case study from Turku, southwestern Finland [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 2014
Using single-grain zircon U-Pb dating by LA-MC-ICPMS and whole-rock geochemistry, we have studied the Palaeoproterozoic gabbroic rocks from Moisio in southwest Finland. Three ages were obtained.

Pukala intrusion, its age and connection to hydrothermal alteration in Orivesi, southwestern Finland [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 2005
The Pukala intrusion is situated in the Paleoproterozoic Svecofennian domain of the Fennoscandian Shield in the contact region between the Central Finland Granitoid Complex and the Tampere Belt.

U-Th-Pb zircon geochronology on igneous rocks in the Toija and Salittu Formations, Orijärvi area, southwestern Finland: Constraints on the age of volcanism and metamorphism [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 2008
Zircons from a felsic volcanic rock in the Toija Formation and a synvolcanic gabbro intrusion in the Salittu Formation within the Orijärvi area were dated by U-Th-Pb SIMS in order to provide depositional constraints on these formations.

An ion microprobe U-Th-Pb study of zircon xenocrysts from the Lahtojoki kimberlite pipe, eastern Finland [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 2001
Eleven relatively large (diameter 1–2 mm) zircon grains extracted from the Lahtojoki kimberlite pipe (Eastern Finland Kimberlite Province) have been analysed by the ion microprobe NORDSIM for their U- and Pb- isotopic composition.

Timing of Palaeoproterozoic crustal shearing in the central Fennoscandian Shield according to U-Pb data from associated granitoids, Finland [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 2001
Granitoids in the Finnish part of the Fennoscandian Shield were created by numerous Archaean and Palaeoproterozoic tectonic events. Late phases of Palaeoproterozoic, Svecokarelian deformation created ductile, crustal-scale shear zones, of which the N-S ...

Reconstruction of the Dead (Grey) Dune evolution along the Curonian Spit, Southeastern Baltic [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 2013
One of the unique places in Europe in both environmental and cultural terms is the Curonian Spit – a massive sandy barrier separating the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea. Straddling both the Lithuanian and the Russian parts, the spit is included into

Hipparcos Subdwarfs and Globular Cluster Ages: Towards Reliable Absolute Ages [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1997
The maximum age of galactic globular clusters provides the best observational constraint on the minimum age of the Universe. One of the main “missing link” in the globular cluster age determination has been the lack of a precise calibration, with local subdwarfs, of the position of the subdwarf sequence at different [Fe/H].Hipparcos data may change ...
