Permeability enhancers dramatically increase zanamivir absolute bioavailability in rats: implications for an orally bioavailable influenza treatment. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
We have demonstrated that simple formulations composed of the parent drug in combination with generally regarded as safe (GRAS) permeability enhancers are capable of dramatically increasing the absolute bioavailability of zanamivir.

Metabolic engineering of micronutrients in crop plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Micronutrient deficiency is a widespread phenomenon, most prevalent in developing countries. Being causally linked to the occurrence of a range of diseases, it affects billions of people worldwide. Enhancing the content of micronutrients in crop products

Dual‐Functional Ingestible Passive Capsules for High‐Throughput Intestinal Sampling with Sealed Containment and Targeted Drug Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
To address challenges in high‐throughput intestinal sampling with sealed containment and target drug delivery, we developed a dual‐functional ingestible passive capsule with a dual‐triggered control system based on pH‐response and mechanical actuation.

Determination of Tangeretin in Rat Plasma: Assessment of Its Clearance and Absolute Oral Bioavailability

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2017
Tangeretin (TAN) is a dietary polymethoxylated flavone that possesses a broad scope of pharmacological activities. A simple high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was developed and validated in this study to quantify TAN in plasma of ...

Controls on dissolved organic carbon quantity and chemical character in temperate rivers of North America [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Understanding the processes controlling the transfer and chemical composition of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in freshwater systems is crucial to understanding the carbon cycle and the effects of DOC on water quality.

Alternating High‐Fat and Polysaccharide Diets Modulates Gut Phage‐Bacterial Interplay

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals how alternating high‐fat and polysaccharide diets reshape the human gut virome and enhance phage‐bacteria interactions. Using large‐scale metagenomic meta‐analysis and a time‐resolved mouse model, the authors show that diets strongly modulate phage abundance, lifestyle, and gene exchange, offering new insights into nutrition‐guided ...

Development and characterization of solid lipid nanoparticles for enhancement of oral bioavailability of Raloxifene

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2012
The objective of this study was to increase the oral bioavailability of Raloxifene having an absolute bioavailability only 2% due to extensive first pass hepatic metabolism by incorporating it in Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLNs).

Effects of emamectin benzoate on pharmacokinetic profiles, bioavailability, and serum biochemical indices in crucian carp (Carassius carassius) following oral administration with multiple dosage levels

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2023
The aim of this investigation was to explore the effect of three different dose levels of emamectin benzoate (EMB) (50, 200, and 500 μg/kg bw) on pharmacokinetic characterizations, tissue distribution patterns, absolute bioavailability, and serum ...

Pharmacokinetics of dexamethasone in broiler chickens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Dexamethasone (DEX) is a synthetic derivate of cortisol and is one of the most potent glucocorticoids in man and animal. It is well known as an anti-inflammatory drug in many species. In poultry, however, data on the use of DEX are scarce.

Profiling Localized Immunomodulation and Drug Biodistribution within a Subcutaneous Vascularized Niche for Cell Transplantation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We studied how five common immunosuppressants behave when delivered directly to a transplant site instead of systemically. Using a vascularized implant for islet transplantation, we show that local delivery protects grafts, limits drug spread to the rest of the body, and produces distinct immune signatures.
