Evaluation system for absolute brightness from the retinal vessels

open access: closedMedical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1983
The paper describes a method for the absolute evaluation of the luminance of a photographic image of the fundus, based on a comparison between this image and a referred grey scale. The absolute measurements of the luminance of the particular on the film are performed by a microprocessor-controlled microfilm reader.

Singularity-Free Lie Group Integration and Geometrically Consistent Evaluation of Multibody System Models Described in Terms of Standard Absolute Coordinates

open access: closedJournal of Computational and Nonlinear Dynamics, 2022
Abstract A classical approach to the multibody systems (MBS) modeling is to use absolute coordinates, i.e., a set of (possibly redundant) coordinates that describe the absolute position and orientation of the individual bodies with respect to an inertial frame (IFR).

Experimental evaluation of absolute stability in teleoperation systems

open access: closed2016 IEEE Haptics Symposium (HAPTICS), 2016
Absolute stability of teleoperation systems is analyzed based on linear models of such systems. These models are prone to dynamic and parametric uncertainties, which may result in a false robust stability outcome. In this paper, we propose an experimental methodology for the analysis of absolute stability of master-slave teleoperation systems.

A Framework for the Relative and Absolute Performance Evaluation of Automated Spectroscopy Systems

open access: closedAIP Conference Proceedings, 2009
The development of high‐speed, high‐performance gamma‐ray spectroscopy algorithms is critical to the success of many automated threat detection systems. In response to this need a proliferation of such algorithms has taken place. With this proliferation comes the necessary and non‐trivial task of validation.

Absolute evaluation of combined hybridization-induced and RKKY-induced two-ion interaction in correlated electron systems

open access: closedJournal of Applied Physics, 1991
Cerium and light actinide materials have unusual properties, including suppressed crystal-field splitting and highly anisotropic ordered magnetism, that can be understood on the basis of the Coulomb interaction between partially delocalized f electrons and the non-f-band electrons.

System construction and uncertainty evaluation of absolute measurement of infrared spectral radiance

open access: closedOptical Metrology and Inspection for Industrial Applications VI, 2019
The absolute measurement of infrared spectral radiance is very important for optical radiometry. In this paper, a system for absolute measurement of infrared spectral radiance is built up. The system consists of fixed-point blackbody sources, a variable temperature blackbody, a radiant source to be measured, Fourier Transform Infrared Radiometer (FTIR),

The evaluation of absolute position drift of inertial-based motion capture systems

open access: closedProceedings of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Annual Meeting, 2018
Inertial based capture technologies allow for direct capture of motions within a manufacturing environment and, may be used with human simulation software to perform ergonomics analyses. However, these technologies are negatively affected by metal environments where “drift” has been shown to cause error in capture accuracy.

Model order reduction of multibody system dynamics based on stiffness evaluation in the absolute nodal coordinate formulation

open access: closedNonlinear Dynamics, 2016
Although various studies on reduced-order modeling (ROM) of flexible multibody dynamics have been conducted, the issue of efficiency still exists. Significant computational resources are required in order to handle rigid body motions and inertia forces along with the flexibility of each body.

A new method for absolute accuracy evaluation of a US-guided HIFU system with heterogeneous phantom

open access: closed2016 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2016
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound as a non-invasive treatment method has gaining its popularity in various clinical application. HIFU is usually used with navigation system with which to make pre-operative plan. Our group developed a US-guided HIFU system for breast cancer treatment.

Study of the optimum level of electrode placement for the evaluation of absolute lung resistivity with the Mk3.5 EIT system

open access: closedPhysiological Measurement, 2006
Inter-subject variability has caused the majority of previous electrical impedance tomography (EIT) techniques to focus on the derivation of relative or difference measures of in vivo tissue resistivity. Implicit in these techniques is the requirement for a reference or previously defined data set. This study assesses the accuracy and optimum electrode
