Prognostic significance of absolute lymphocyte count and lymphocyte subsets in lymphomas.

open access: yesPrague medical report, 2010
Lymphocytopenia is a poor prognostic marker in initial staging of non- Hodgkin lymphomas (below 1.0 x 10(9)/l) and Hodgkin lymphoma (below 0.6 x 10(9)/l) and in relapsed diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Early lymphocyte recovery > or =0.5 x 10(9)/l after autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation is a significant predictor of tumor control and ...

STAID: A Self‐Refining Deep Learning Framework for Spatial Cell‐Type Deconvolution with Biologically Informed Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
STAID is a unified deep learning framework that couples iterative pseudo‐spot refinement with neural network training through a feedback loop and exploits gene co‐expression information to model higher‐order interactions, achieving accurate and robust cell‐type deconvolution in spatial transcriptomics.

Clinical Characteristics of Geriatric Asthma in Guangxi of China: A Retrospective Comparative Descriptive Study

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
Geriatric asthmatics exhibit more comorbidities, poorer lung function, higher neutrophil ratios, and elevated CRP levels. ABSTRACT Objective The research analyzed the clinical characteristics of geriatric and nongeriatric asthma cases, aiming to provide new insights into the diagnosis and management of geriatric asthma for clinicians.

Patterns of Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio Change in two Inflammatory Rheumatic Diseases: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesActa Clinica Croatica
A high neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a potential marker of systemic inflammation and predictor of worse outcomes in numerous diseases, but with no report on the pattern of change in NLR (changes in absolute neutrophil and lymphocyte counts ...

Association of HAMP Expression and CD8+ T‐Cell Infiltration With Atezolizumab–Bevacizumab Response in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In hepatocellular carcinoma treated with atezolizumab–bevacizumab, responders showed RNA‐seq enrichment of immune and chemokine pathways with higher HAMP expression. In resected specimens, immunohistochemistry confirmed increased intratumoral CD8+ T‐cell density and hepcidin (HAMP), supporting HAMP plus CD8 as components of a composite predictor of ...

Can Machine Learning Reduce Unnecessary Surgeries? A Retrospective Analysis Using Threshold Optimization to Prevent Negative Appendectomies in Adults

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Threshold‐optimized machine learning models using routine clinical and laboratory data in 623 adults undergoing appendectomy. Logistic regression (AUC = 0.765) and random forest (AUC = 0.785) were the best‐performing models for appendicitis detection and complicated appendicitis prediction, respectively.

Clinical Significance of PD‐L1 and HLA Expression in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Response to Immunotherapy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study evaluated immune‐related biomarkers in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors after postoperative recurrence. PD‐L1 expression in tumor‐associated macrophages and tumor cells, together with HLA class I downregulation and HLA‐DR expression, were associated with favorable responses to immunotherapy.

Viability assessment and transplantation of fatty liver grafts using end‐ischemic normothermic machine perfusion

open access: yesLiver Transplantation, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract End‐ischemic viability testing by normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) represents an effective strategy to recover liver grafts having initially been discarded for liver transplantation (LT). However, its results in the setting of significant (≥30%) macrovesicular steatosis (MaS) have not been specifically assessed.

A The ratio of neutrophils l and the mean platelet volume to platelet count ratio as risk factors for febrile convulsions in Zakho

open access: yesZanco Journal of Medical Sciences
Background and objective: The most prevalent cause of convulsions in young children is febrile convulsions. The ratio of neutrophils to lymphocytes (NLR), the mean platelet volume (MPV), and the platelet count are indicators of inflammation.
