Generalised electromagnetic forces in an absolute nodal coordinate formulation

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2021
Abstract This paper focuses on the mechanical, dynamic numerical modelling of an electrical-current-carrying cable using a non-linear absolute nodal coordinate formulation. The derived equations are an expansion of the mechanical equation of motion.

Absolute Nodal Coordinate Formulation

Volume 1A: 16th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, 1997
Abstract There are three basic finite element formulations, which are used in multibody dynamics. These are the floating frame reference approach, the incremental method and the large rotation vector approach. In the floating frame of reference and incremental formulations, the slopes are assumed small in order to define infinitesimal ...

The Absolute Nodal Coordinate Formulation

2016
The key idea of the absolute nodal coordinate formulation (ANCF) is to use slope vectors in order to describe the orientation of the cross-section of structural mechanics components, such as beams, plates or shells. This formulation relaxes the kinematical assumptions of Bernoulli–Euler and Timoshenko beam theories and enables a deformation of the ...

Absolute Nodal Coordinate Formulation Coupled Deformation Modes

Design Engineering and Computers and Information in Engineering, Parts A and B, 2006
The finite element absolute nodal coordinate formulation (ANCF) leads to beam and plate models that relax the assumption of the classical Euler-bernoulli and Timoshenko beam and Mindlin plate theories. In these more general models, the cross section is allowed to deform and it is no longer treated as a rigid surface.

Absolute Nodal Coordinate Formulation for Aeroelastic Analysis of Panel

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
This paper deals with supersonic/hypersonic flutter analysis of panels. A 3-D rectangular plate element of variable thickness based on absolute nodal coordinate formulation (ANCF) has been developed for the structural model. A continuum mechanics approach for the definition of the elastic forces within the finite element is considered.

Elimination of high frequencies in the absolute nodal coordinate formulation

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part K: Journal of Multi-body Dynamics, 2009
The performance of the coordinate partitioning method, the method of Lagrangian multipliers with Baumgarte's stabilization, and the penalty method to account for non-linear constraints of a linear beam element based on the absolute nodal coordinate formulation is studied.
