From Absolute Idealism to Instrumentalism: The Problem of Dewey's Early Philosophy

open access: yes, 1989
One of the great unsolved mysteries of Dewey scholarship is the date of Dewey's rejection of absolute idealism. The earliest explicit indication that a break had occurred appeared in the 1903 Studies in Logical Theory.

SCP‐Pose: Leveraging Structural Consistency Prior Knowledge for Real‐Time Category‐Level 6D Pose Estimation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This paper presents a high‐speed object pose estimation method that deconstructs objects into geometric components. Inspired by human cognitive generalization, it detects these primitives and infers the 6D pose from their stable spatial configuration.

R.G. Collingwood's Doctrine of Absolute Presuppositions and Its Bearing on the Problem of Historical Understanding [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
This study attempts to demonstrate that there is a new turn in Collingwood's philosophy of history in and after 1935 and that this new turn is the result of Collingwood working out his theory of absolute presuppositions in the early 1930's ...

A Two‐Stage Characterization Pipeline and Open‐Source Framework for Reproducible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
The same soft tactile sensor returns different numbers when embodied in different robots. This is an Embodiment Gap that no shared framework currently captures transparently. A two‐stage characterization pipeline, paired with a FAIR open‐source digital datasheet, decouples intrinsic sensor behavior from embodiment effects and condenses cross‐laboratory

Analysis of Uncertainty Influence in the Design of Interval Type‐3 Fuzzy Controllers With Type‐3 Fuzzy Harmony Search: The Case of the Water Tank

open access: yesAI &Innovation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nonlinear control systems are an integral part of complex engineering systems. The main difference from linear systems is their ability to adapt to changes and unpredictable conditions. These systems exhibit behaviors that cannot be predicted by simple linear equations, making them essential for applications requiring precise control over a ...

Comments on Sklar's ``Barbour's Relationist Metric of Time'' [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Julian Barbour's approach to dynamics is reviewed. With a particular focus on questions of explanation and confirmation, the approach is contrasted with standard formulations of dynamics. This paper expands upon my commentary on Lawrence Sklar's paper at
