Absorbed dose calorimetry

Physics in Medicine & Biology, 2020
This article reviews the development and summarizes the state-of-the-art in absorbed dose calorimetry for all the common clinical beam modalities covered in reference dosimetry codes of practice, as well as for small and nonstandard fields, and brachytherapy.

Average absorbed dose in thin absorbers

Physics in Medicine & Biology, 1974
It is pointed out that an expression for the average absorbed dose for a monoenergetic beam, given in the ICRU report 17 (1970) is not formally correct. The error arises from assuming that partial attenuation coefficients can be treated in the same way as total attenuation coefficients.

PML Absorbing Boundaries

Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 2003
It has been previously demonstrated that no reflection is generated when elastic (or electromagnetic) waves enter a region with Perfectly Matching Layer (PML) absorbing conditions in a continuous medium. The practical application of PMLs, however, is in numerical modeling, where the medium is discretized by either a finite-element or a finite ...
