Bent‐Core Liquid Crystal‐Based Heterojunctions as Gas Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
Bilayer heterojunction devices are developed using liquid crystals and a molecular semiconductor. By employing banana‐shaped liquid crystals as a sublayer with lutetium bisphthalocyanine (LuPc2) on top, sensors sensitive to ammonia are achieved, detecting levels below 10 ppm, and as low as 2 ppm for specific devices.

Studies into the detection of buried objects (particularly optical fibres) in saturated sediment. Part 2: design and commissioning of test tank

open access: yes, 2007
This report is the second in a series of five, designed to investigate the detection oftargets buried in saturated sediment, primarily through acoustical or acoustics-relatedmethods.

Impact of the Si Electrode Morphology and of the Added Li‐Salt on the SEI Formed Using EMIFSI‐Based Ionic‐Liquid Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
The early‐stage formation and evolution of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) on binder‐free silicon electrodes is investigated by advanced spectroscopic techniques and controlled galvanostatic cycling. The influence of electrode crystallinity and morphology on passivation film composition and thickness is demonstrated, offering valuable insights ...

Bifunctional WO3 Photoelectrodes Decorated by Inkjet Printing for Solar Supercapacitors

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
WO3 bifunctional photoelectrodes, produced by screen printing and then superficially decorated by inkjet printing, are successfully applied to prepare solar supercapacitors. Under illumination, the areal capacitance is enhanced thanks to the positive contribution of the photogenerated charges and the higher exposed area; its value becomes even more ...

Presbycusis: Pathology, Signal Pathways, and Therapeutic Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In ARHL, the stria vascularis, acting as a cochlear battery, gradually loses its ability to maintain the endocochlear potential, leading to impaired hair cell function and progressive hearing loss. Single‐cell sequencing reveals age‐related cellular changes in the cochlea, providing insights into the underlying mechanisms of aging and potential ...

Piezoelectric Biomaterials for Bone Regeneration: Roadmap from Dipole to Osteogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Piezoelectric biomaterials convert mechanical forces into electrical signals, offering novel strategies to restore and modulate bone microenvironments for tissue engineering. This review examines molecular dipole origins, spatial arrangements, and pseudo‐piezoelectric mechanisms and highlights dipole‐engineering techniques for osteogenesis regulation ...

Analysis of non-exponential sound decay in an enclosure composed of two connected rectangular subrooms

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2014
Acoustically coupled rooms have recently been drawing more and more attention in the architectural acoustics community. Determination of decay times in these coupled rooms from computer-based models has become increasingly significant. In computational
