Investigation of a Ammonia-Water Absorption Chiller Performance

2010 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2010
An experimental prototype of a single stage ammonia-water absorption chiller was designed, built and tested. The thermodynamic models of the components, based on the First and Second Laws, have been assembled so as to quantify the simultaneous heat and mass transfer processes occurring within the exchangers.

Experimental study of an ammonia-water absorption chiller

International Journal of Refrigeration, 2012
Abstract This paper presents the performance of an ammonia-water absorption chiller. This single-stage 10 kW absorption chiller is cooled with a water-ethylene glycol solution. The required heat source is hot water between 75 °C and 85 °C. Different operating conditions can be imposed by varying temperatures and flow rates of secondary circuits and ...

Absorption chillers - Water-Lithium bromide systems

2020

Thermodynamic evaluation of triple effect absorption chiller

2008 Second International Conference on Thermal Issues in Emerging Technologies, 2008
Water lithium bromide vapour absorption cooling systems, both single and double effect, are being used extensively for air conditioning. However, relatively few works are available on triple effect absorption cooling system and the published literatures are silent on the exergetic analysis of this system.

Thermodynamic modeling of an ammonia–water absorption chiller

International Journal of Refrigeration, 2002
Abstract This article develops a general thermodynamic framework for the modeling of an irreversible absorption chiller at the design point, with application to a single-stage ammonia–water absorption chiller. Component models of the chiller have been assembled so as to quantify the internal entropy production and thermal conductance (UA) in a ...

Performance Analysis of Absorption Chillers Using Data Reconciliation

ASME 2010 10th Biennial Conference on Engineering Systems Design and Analysis, Volume 1, 2010
Performance data obtained from measurements of process variables usually do not obey material and energy conservation laws. This is why a data reconciliation process, that is, the adjustment of measured data to obey the conservation laws and other constraints is necessary in order to characterize the real performance of equipment, processes, or the ...

Solar Absorption Chiller Optimization by Using Genetic Algorithms

ASME 2010 4th International Conference on Energy Sustainability, Volume 2, 2010
The main propose of this research is providing a tool for suitable modeling, increase efficiency and decrease construction cost of solar absorption chiller. At first, the solar absorption chiller is modeled by the thermodynamic laws. Then, this model is converted to the new standard mathematical programming model with considering all technical and ...

Ultrasonic Vibrations for improving Absorption Chillers Performances

2005
Paper present an original method for improving evaporation and absorption processes in absorption chiller systems. The method is based on ultrasonic vibrations. Vibrations allow to reduce the surface tension of working fluid and to increase interface area between absorber fluid and refrigerant.
