Discovery of Water Vapor in the High-redshift Quasar APM 08279+5255 at z = 3.91 [PDF]
We report a detection of the excited 2_(20)-2_(11) rotational transition of para-H_2O in APM 08279+5255 using the IRAM Plateau de Bure Interferometer. At z = 3.91, this is the highest-redshift detection of interstellar water to date.

Improvement of strength and water absorption of Interlocking Compressed Earth Bricks (ICEB) with addition of Ureolytic Bacteria (UB) [PDF]
Interlocking Compressed Earth Brick (ICEB) are cement stabilized soil bricks that allow for dry stacked construction. This characteristic resulted to faster the process of building walls and requires less skilled labour as the bricks are laid dry and ...

An investigation of the hydration properties of chemically vapour-deposited silicon dioxide films by means of ellipsometry [PDF]
Time-dependent ellipsometric measurements were made of the water absoprtion in SiO2 films grown by chemical vapour deposition at low temperatures. These films were exposed to water vapour at different pressurures.

Measurement of Water Absorption of Recycled Aggregate
Owing to the high absorption capacity of recycled aggregate (RA), it is crucial to accurately measure its saturated-surface-dried water absorption (WSSD), which largely affects an effective water-to-binder ratio of recycled aggregate concrete. In this study, existing measurement methods for the WSSD of RA are extensively reviewed, including Wiping ...

Absorption of Inhaled Radioactive Water Vapour [PDF]
THE local function of different regions of the lungs can be studied by the inhalation of various gases labelled with oxygen-15. Recently, water vapour has been labelled in this way. Oxygen-15 has a half-life of 2 min. and is produced by a continuous flow process by bombarding nitrogen with deuterons in the Medical Research Council cyclotron in the ...
