Study on capillary water absorption properties of polypropylene fibre coal gangue ceramsite concrete under freeze-thaw damage

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
In order to probe the effects of freeze-thaw damage and polypropylene (PP) fibres on the capillary water absorption of coal gangue ceramsite concrete (CGCC), the freeze-thaw cycle test and capillary water absorption test were carried out to study the ...

Quantitative Measurement of Water Absorption of Coarse Lightweight Aggregates in Freshly-Mixed Concrete

open access: yesInternational Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials, 2020
The high water-absorption of lightweight aggregate causes a high slump loss and poor workability of concrete. A prewetting process is usually recommended to compensate for the workability problem, but its application needs more delicate consideration in ...

Factors Influencing the Capillary Water Absorption Characteristics of Concrete and Their Relationship to Pore Structure

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The capillary absorption capacity exerts an important effect on the durability of cement-based materials and is closely related to the pore structure. In this study, a variety of cement-based specimens were examined.

The promotion of drug rectal absorption by water absorption

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1985
Abstract The promotion of the rectal absorption of antipyrine by sodium taurocholate (TC-Na) or sodium ethylenediam-inetetraacetate (EDTA-Na) has been examined by in-situ recirculating perfusion in the rat. These promoters significantly increased water influx, efflux and antipyrine absorption clearance (CLAP).

Water ice at the surface of HD 100546 disk

open access: yes, 2016
We made near infrared multicolor imaging observations of a disk around Herbig Be star HD100546 using Gemini/NICI. K (2.2\,$\mu$m), H$_2$O ice (3.06\,$\mu$m), and L'(3.8\,$\mu$m) disk images were obtained and we found the 3.1\,$\mu$m absorption feature in

Microstructure, Deformation Characteristics and Energy Analysis of Mudstone under Water Absorption Process

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In geological engineering, a series of safety problems caused by expansive mudstone are common, such as slope instability and roadbed up-arch. In this paper, the mineral composition of mudstones in the Xining area was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD),

Characterization of doping levels in heteronuclear, gas-phase, van der Waals clusters and their energy absorption from an intense optical field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A simple mass spectrometric method has been developed to quantify dopant levels in heteronuclear clusters in the gas phase. The method is demonstrated with reference to quantification of the water content in supersonic beams of water-doped argon clusters.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.
