Abstractive and Extractive Approaches for Summarizing Multi-document Travel Reviews

open access: yesJurnal RESTI (Rekayasa Sistem dan Teknologi Informasi), 2023
Travel reviews offer insights into users' experiences at places they have visited, including hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions. Reviews are a type of multidocument, where one place has several reviews from different users.

Multi-Task Learning for Abstractive and Extractive Summarization

open access: yesData Science and Engineering, 2019
The abstractive method and extractive method are two main approaches for automatic document summarization. In this paper, to fully integrate the relatedness and advantages of both approaches, we propose a general unified framework for abstractive ...

Neural Attention Model for Abstractive Text Summarization Using Linguistic Feature Space

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Summarization generates a brief and concise summary which portrays the main idea of the source text. There are two forms of summarization: abstractive and extractive.

Performance Study on Extractive Text Summarization Using BERT Models

open access: yesInformation, 2022
The task of summarization can be categorized into two methods, extractive and abstractive. Extractive summarization selects the salient sentences from the original document to form a summary while abstractive summarization interprets the original ...

Abstractive text summarization for Hungarian [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Mathematicae et Informaticae, 2021
In our research we have created a text summarization software tool for Hungarian using multilingual and Hungarian BERT-based models. Two types of text summarization method exist: abstractive and extractive. The abstractive summarization is more similar to human generated summarization.

LCSTS: A Large Scale Chinese Short Text Summarization Dataset [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Automatic text summarization is widely regarded as the highly difficult problem, partially because of the lack of large text summarization data set. Due to the great challenge of constructing the large scale summaries for full text, in this paper, we ...

Diverse Decoding for Abstractive Document Summarization

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Recently, neural sequence-to-sequence models have made impressive progress in abstractive document summarization. Unfortunately, as neural abstractive summarization research is in a primitive stage, the performance of these models is still far from ideal.

Self-Repetition in Abstractive Neural Summarizers

open access: yesProceedings of the 2nd Conference of the Asia-Pacific Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics and the 12th International Joint Conference on Natural Language Processing (Volume 2: Short Papers), 2022
We provide a quantitative and qualitative analysis of self-repetition in the output of neural summarizers. We measure self-repetition as the number of n-grams of length four or longer that appear in multiple outputs of the same system. We analyze the behavior of three popular architectures (BART, T5, and Pegasus), fine-tuned on five datasets.
