Geochemical characteristics of rare earth elements in late Palaeozoic coals from North China

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Introduction: China is a large country of REE resources and production, supplying more than 90% of the world’s rare earth consumption market, China’s traditional REE resources, although rich, but reserves are also declining, in recent years, scholars ...

Population Dynamics of Three Polyplacophora Species from the Aegean Sea (Eastern Mediterranean)

open access: yesDiversity, 2023
The present study is the first to examine spatio-temporal variations in the densities and morphometrics of three shallow water Polyplacophora species (Rhyssoplax olivacea, Acanthochitona fascicularis and Lepidopleurus cajetanus), native to the eastern ...

Abundance and diversity of Mollusca in the Beagle Channel

open access: yesScientia Marina, 1999
The malacofauna of the Beagle Channel caught by an epibenthic sledge during the Joint Magellan Victor Hensen Campaign in 1994 was investigated. At 11 locations 16 samples were taken on a transect through the Channel.

Distribution, abundance, and feeding ecology of baleen whales in Icelandic waters: have recent environmental changes had an effect?

open access: yes, 2015
Date of Acceptance: 13/01/2015The location of Iceland at the junction of submarine ridges in the North-East Atlantic where warm and cold water masses meet south of the Arctic Circle contributes to high productivity of the waters around the island. During

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Predicting Pollicipes pollicipes (Crustacea: Cirripedia) abundance on intertidal rocky shores of SW Portugal: a multi-scale approach based on a simple fetch-based wave exposure index

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2016
Understanding and predicting patterns of distribution and abundance of marine resources is important for conservation and management purposes in small-scale artisanal fisheries and industrial fisheries worldwide. The goose barnacle (Pollicipes pollicipes)

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
