The Implant‐Abutment Interface of Alumina and Zirconia Abutments
Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research, 2008ABSTRACTBackground: Although ceramic and titanium abutments are widely used in clinical practice, the mechanical characterization of the implant‐abutment interface for ceramic abutments has not been evaluated after the dynamic loading.Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the implant‐abutment interface after the dynamic loading of titanium ...

Anterior ankle abutment can be problematic for both athletes and for persons whose occupations require repeated loading of the anterior ankle joint. Nonoperative care is often not satisfactory for the individual who demands painfree activity. Because the presence of anterior osteophytes has been shown to represent the early stages of degenerative ...

Abstract— The use of preformed metallic anchorages inserted in satisfactorily treated teeth for increased stabilization and retention in complete and partial dentures is demonstrated. An additional advantage is the retention of proprioceptive guidance in mastication with complete dentures. A number of clinical examples are illustrated.

Adhesive abutment cylinder luting
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1993The connection between dental implants must be passive so that stress is not introduced between bone, implant, and prosthesis. To achieve this passivity clinically is difficult if not impossible with current procedures. A technique is presented in which premachined titanium abutment cylinders are clinically luted to a cast framework to create a stress ...

Abutment screw withdrawal after conical abutment settlement: A pilot study
Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2019AbstractObjectiveThis study investigated the effects of abutment screw withdrawal after conical abutment settlement on the stability of the implant–abutment connection.Materials and methodsTwenty implants of a conical connection system were used. Two two‐piece abutment designs were used: cone only (n = 10; NI) and cone plus octagonal index design (n ...

Multiple Abutment Positional Guide
Implant Dentistry, 2009Custom-made abutments are popular to correct malpositioned implants, enhance esthetics, and improve function. The implant abutment can be positioned in 6 or 12 different positions depending on the connection design. In addition, the number of positions increases exponentially when >1 abutment is to be placed.

Inter‐abutment and peri‐abutment mucosal enlargement with mandibular implant overdentures
Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2001Abstract: A variety of terms have been used to describe changes in the oral mucosa around abutments underneath fixed and removable implant prostheses such as mucosal inflammation, peri‐implant mucosal hyperplasia, gingival hyperplasia, hyperplastic tissue, mucosal proliferation, proliferative gingivitis and peri‐implant mucositis.

Does Abutment Collar Length Affect Abutment Screw Loosening After Cyclic Loading?
Journal of Oral Implantology, 2014A significant vertical space that is corrected with vertical ridge augmentation may necessitate selection of longer abutments, which would lead to an increased vertical cantilever. This study investigated the influence of different abutment collar heights on single-unit dental implant screw-loosening after cyclic loading.

Abutment stress in overdentures
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1978Abstract Using a three-dimensional photoelastic model, the relative merits of five overdenture retainers were compared. The soft liner system produced the highest stress concentrations. The retainer systems with intimate contact between the denture base and the abutment tooth showed similar stress concentrations.

Rapid, accurate seating of screw-retained implant abutment heads, where timing is controlled by internal or external hex designs, can be readily accomplished with individual, custom-cast abutment head location devices. The devices are especially useful when the abutment head-implant body complex is to be permanently cemented.
