Vector control strategies to enable equal frequency operation of the modular multilevel matrix converter

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
The modular multilevel matrix converter (M^3C) is a power converter topology for ac to ac conversion that is suitable for high-power applications. The control of this converter is complex, particularly if ac system frequencies are similar. In these cases,

A Dual VSG-Based M3C Control Scheme for Frequency Regulation Support of a Remote AC Grid Via Low-Frequency AC Transmission System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper proposes a low-frequency ac (LFAC) transmission system capable of providing frequency regulation support for a remote ac grid aiming at enhancing its frequency stability. The LFAC transmission system using modular multilevel matrix converters (

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

DIMMABLE BALLAST WITH RESISTIVE INPUT AND LOW ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
An AC to AC power conversion apparatus with constant power feeding characteristics to fluorescent lamp or HID lamp is described. The constant power characteristic is achieved by discontinuous mode operation of capacitor coupled in series with the load ...

A study of Schwarz converters for nuclear powered spacecraft [PDF]

open access: yes
High power space systems which use low dc voltage, high current sources such as thermoelectric generators, will most likely require high voltage conversion for transmission purposes.

Clean‐Limit 2D Superconductivity in a Thick Exfoliated Kagome Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports clean‐limit 2D superconductivity in a thick kagome system, analogous to the 3D case. It observes a drop in superfluid stiffness near the superconducting transition and a cusp‐like feature in the angular dependence of the upper critical field.

Switched-capacitor step-down rectifier for low-voltage power conversion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents a switched-capacitor rectifier that provides step down voltage conversion from an ac input voltage to a dc output. Coupled with current-drive source, low-loss and high step-down rectification is realized.
