A three-level integrated AC-DC converter

2012 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2012
In this paper, a new integrated three-level ac-dc converter is presented. The proposed converter integrates the operation of the boost power factor correction and the three-level dc-dc converter. The converter is made to operate with two independent controllers-an input controller that performs power factor correction and regulates the dc bus and an ...

AC/DC/AC converter based on parallel AC/DC and cascaded multilevel DC/AC converter

2012 Students Conference on Engineering and Systems, 2012
This paper presents a single phase AC/DC/AC converter based on parallel AC/DC and cascaded multi-level DC/AC Converter. For a two-cell AC/DC/AC converter, two units of full-bridges are connected in parallel and two units of half-bridges are connected in cascade.

AC-DC quasi-single-stage converters

INTELEC 07 - 29th International Telecommunications Energy Conference, 2007
Ac-dc power conversion can either be done with two separate converter stages or with a single converter stage. Two-stage ac-dc converters, however, can be costly and complex and the performance of single-stage converters is compromised due to a reduced number of components.

A Novel DC-AC/DC Converter with Boosted AC-DC Output Voltages

2020 11th Power Electronics, Drive Systems, and Technologies Conference (PEDSTC), 2020
A single-input double-output converter, which receives a DC voltage and supplies an AC and a DC load, is introduced in this paper. The topology is based on merging a half-bridge DC/AC inverter with a conventional DC/DC boost converter. The DC load supplied in one of the output terminals experiences an increased voltage level compared to that of the ...

Precision average-sensing AC/DC converters

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1993
Various configurations of average-sensing AC/DC converters for precision AC voltage measurements are described. Due to the unique electrical configurations in which the influence of the inaccuracy of ratio resistors is suppressed, these converters have high accuracy (better than 0.01%) and resolution (0.0001%) at medium frequencies.

Matrix converter based AC/DC rectifier

2010 IEEE Region 8 International Conference on Computational Technologies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (SIBIRCON), 2010
In this paper we present a driver for the DC machine based on a matrix converter. 3 – Phase matrix converter with one and two output DC voltages is considered. Mathematical relations for the Venturini control algorithm of the matrix converter have been derived.

A dual-mode AC-DC converter

2008 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2008
AC-DC-AC frequency conversion is widely utilized in power supply system fed by wind turbine, gas or diesel engine or other suitable drive that typically has a variable frequency power output. The paper introduces a new concept of AC-DC conversion system to address the machine interface at multi-MW level.

Isolated AC/DC Converter Using Soft-Switching Technique

IEEJ Transactions on Industry Applications, 2016
SUMMARYThis paper presents a high‐frequency isolated ac/dc converter using the soft switching technique. The ac/dc converter consists of a matrix converter for transforming three‐phase ac voltage to high‐frequency ac voltage, a high‐frequency transformer, and an ac/dc rectifier. In order to reduce the switching loss, soft switching at every commutation

DC Motor Speed Control through AC/DC Converter

2006 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications, 2006
We are considering the problem of DC motors through AC/DC power converters of the Buck-Boost type. The dynamics of the latter are explicitly accounted for in the controller design, unlike in most previous works. The control objectives are twofold: (i) speed regulation, (ii) unitary power factor operation.

Dual heater isothermal AC/DC converter

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1995
A dual heater isothermal AC/DC converter has been developed and tested experimentally. The device used in a negative feedback loop, driven by a sinusoidal voltage yields the rms value. At low frequencies the major source of error is the ripple in the feedback path. A minor systematic error, at a all frequencies, is an inverse function of the loop gain.
