AC/DC Thermal Converters of the ETL

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1974
In order to establish alternating current and voltage standards, various types of thermal current and voltage converters have been constructed. From their detailed analysis, the specifications and characteristics have been determined. These converters have been used in a circular international comparison.

A TSV-based architecture for AC-DC converters

2013 8th IEEE Design and Test Symposium, 2013
In this paper, a proposed through silicon via (TSV) structure is used to construct AC-DC converters. This structure is analyzed using 3D electromagnetic full-wave simulators. The results show that the proposed 3D converter exhibits small area with superior performance compared to a 2D transformer, for the same footprint as lossy substrate effects are ...

A Novel DC-AC/DC Converter with Boosted AC-DC Output Voltages

2020 11th Power Electronics, Drive Systems, and Technologies Conference (PEDSTC), 2020
A single-input double-output converter, which receives a DC voltage and supplies an AC and a DC load, is introduced in this paper. The topology is based on merging a half-bridge DC/AC inverter with a conventional DC/DC boost converter. The DC load supplied in one of the output terminals experiences an increased voltage level compared to that of the ...

Stable wideband ac–dc converter

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1982
This paper describes improvements on a stable wideband ac–dc converter, which is basically composed of a dual junction field effect transistor and a low drift operational amplifier. This converter has a stable square-law transfer characteristic up to 200 MHz for 0–0.5 V output with a drift of less than 0.1 mV/h.

A dual-mode AC-DC converter

2008 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2008
AC-DC-AC frequency conversion is widely utilized in power supply system fed by wind turbine, gas or diesel engine or other suitable drive that typically has a variable frequency power output. The paper introduces a new concept of AC-DC conversion system to address the machine interface at multi-MW level.

An approach to the AC to AC/DC converter

Proceedings of Intelec'96 - International Telecommunications Energy Conference, 2002
The paper describes an input and output insulated AC to AC voltage converter, which has nearly unity power factor and regulating function, based on the bi-directional PPM (pulse phase modulation) switching technology. The converter also has AC to /spl plusmn/ variable DC voltage conversion function, that is operating at high frequency PPM control of ...

AC/DC converter free LED driver for lightings

2012 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE), 2012
This paper presents a noble AC/DC converter-free LED driver for LED lighting applications. The presented LED driver applies the AC mains power directly to the LED strings with no AC/DC converter stage, thus bulky transformer and life-time limiting electrolytic capacitor no longer needed.

UDE-based Robust Control for AC/DC Converters

IECON 2018 - 44th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2018
In this paper, an uncertainty and disturbance estimator (UDE)-based robust control strategy is developed for AC/DC converters to achieve accurate DC-link voltage regulation. The models of both DC-link voltage dynamics and power delivering are derived firstly.

GaN in AC/DC Power Converters

2018
With low power loss and high switching capability, GaN device technology can benefit power electronics converters in a number of ways. GaN devices can substitute Si devices in a converter for improved efficiency and power density. In addition, GaN devices can simplify the converter topology, leading to lower cost and higher reliability. GaN devices can
