Joint Association of Diet Index for Gut Microbiota and MVPA With Central Obesity: The Mediating Role of Biological Age

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study found that higher dietary index for gut microbiota (DI‐GM) scores and adequate moderate‐to‐vigorous physical activity (MVPA) were both independently associated with lower central obesity prevalence. Participants with both high DI‐GM (≥ 6) and recommended MVPA showed a 40% reduced risk of central obesity. Biological age partially mediated the

Circulating fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP‐4) concentrations and mortality in individuals with colorectal cancer in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 3, Page 546-559, 1 February 2026.
What's new? Higher pre‐diagnostic body mass index has been associated with higher risk of mortality in individuals with colorectal cancer; however, the mechanism remains unclear. This prospective analysis of incident colorectal cancer cases within the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition cohort study addressed potential collider

Lipidomic Analysis of Plasma Extracellular Vesicles from Adiponectin Deficient Mice or Metabolic Syndrome Patients Reveals Pro‐Oxidative and Pro‐Inflammatory Lipid Signatures Correlating with Metabolic Dysfunction

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 2, February 2026.
Adiponectin deficiency remodels the lipid composition of plasma extracellular vesicles (EV), enriching polyunsaturated phospholipids and reducing lysophospholipids. These remodelled EV impact oxidative, inflammatory and metabolic function in recipient cells.

Bile Acid Binding Resins Improve Glucagon Receptor Agonist‐Mediated Weight Loss in Diet‐Induced Obese Mice

open access: yesObesity, Volume 34, Issue 2, Page 428-438, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Glucagon‐receptor (GCGR) agonism reguglates bile acid (BA) metabolism and promotes weight loss in diet‐induced obese (DIO) mice. Thus, we hypothesized that BA signaling contributes to GCGR‐stimulated weight loss. Methods To test this hypothesis, we utilized BA‐binding resins (BARs; colesevelam [Colsv] and cholestyramine [Cstyr]) to ...
