One-directional flow of ionic solutions along fine electrodes under an alternating current electric field [PDF]
Electric fields are widely used for controlling liquids in various research fields. To control a liquid, an alternating current (AC) electric field can offer unique advantages over a direct current (DC) electric field, such as fast and programmable flows

Electric Field Induced Electrorotation of 2D Perovskite Microplates
High precision-controlled movement of microscale devices is crucial to obtain advanced miniaturized motors. In this work, we report a high-speed rotating micromotor based on two-dimensional (2D) all-inorganic perovskite CsPbBr3 microplates controlled via

ac electric fields drive steady flows in flames [PDF]
We show that time-oscillating electric fields applied to plasmas present in flames create steady flows of gas. Ions generated within the flame move in the field and migrate a distance δ before recombining; the net flow of ions away from the flame creates a time-averaged force that drives the steady flows observed experimentally.

Collapse of DNA in ac Electric Fields
We report that double-stranded DNA collapses in the presence of ac electric fields at frequencies of a few hundred Hertz, and does not stretch as commonly assumed. In particular, we show that confinement-stretched DNA can collapse to about one quarter of its equilibrium length.

The role of the AC component in human perception of AC–DC hybrid electric fields [PDF]
AbstractElectric energy is essential to today’s society. To cope with global higher demand while minimizing land use, efficient high voltage direct current (HVDC) power lines are planned to be mounted on existing alternating current (AC) structures leading to electric fields (EFs) from both AC and DC transmission lines in hybrid configurations.

The influence of frequency of AC component on space charge behaviours in polyethylene under combined AC and DC electric fields [PDF]
Combined ac and dc voltages may occur in high voltage power transmission system, which bring challenges to the dielectric materials. Generally speaking, space charge is well recognised under high voltage dc conditions but has received little attention ...
