An Electromagnetic Design of a Fully Superconducting Generator for Wind Application

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
A fully superconducting wind generator employs superconductors in stator and rotor to enable high torque density and low weight, that is, enable an ultra-light electric machine for wind application.

AC Iron Loss Prediction and Magnetic Properties of Fe-6.5 wt. % Si Ribbons Prepared by Melt-Spinning

open access: yesMetals, 2018
Ultra-thin Fe-6.5 wt. % Si ribbons of 35 μm in thickness were prepared by melt-spinning. The magnetic properties were investigated before and after annealing at 1000 °C.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

AC losses calculation of parallel multi‐strand flat wire windings for automotive drive motor

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications
Automobile drive motor with flat wire winding has improved the slot fill factor and efficiency. However, under the current environment of drive motors development to high frequency and voltage, the increase in winding AC loss has weakened those ...

Power conversion efficiency prioritized AC filter inductor design for three-phase PWM inverter

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
This study was conducted to develop a design method of power density and efficiency maximization for three-phase pulse-width modulated (PWM) inverters that include AC filter. A tradeoff relationship exists between power density and efficiency. In general,

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

AC Losses in Superconductors

open access: yesTEION KOGAKU (Journal of Cryogenics and Superconductivity Society of Japan), 1969
A brief review is presented on the ac losses of superconductors in the low-frequency, high-frequency, and weak-field regions. Special emphasis is given to the hysteresis loss which is the main part of the low frequency losses. Existing data of the low-frequency losses are collected to be shown in a single figure and it is shown that most of these can ...

Functional comparison of EncB and EncC cargo proteins in iron storage within the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Encapsulins are protein nanocompartments that play an important role in iron storage. In the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin system, two cargo proteins called EncB and EncC contribute to iron mineralization. Here, we show that EncB and EncC generate iron‐containing minerals with distinct chemical compositions, suggesting that the composition of stored ...
