ac self-field loss measurement system
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1999The accuracy and reproducibility of a self-field ac loss measurement technique for high-temperature superconducting tapes using a digital lock-in amplifier are discussed. The influence of the reference phase setting on the error was calculated and verified experimentally for different degrees of inductive component compensation.

AC losses of high-field superconductors
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1970The Riemersma critical state model is applied to a long irreversible type-II superconductor carrying ac. Voltage waveforms, energy loss per cycle, and limiting values of effective resistivity are derived. For sinusoidal current of frequency f in 10-mil wire the critical current limit of resistivity is 4.06 × 10-14f (ω.m).

AC losses in high-temperature superconductors
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1991Intergranular and intragranular AC losses in the superconducting state of ceramic high-temperature superconductors are calculated using a critical state model for the intergranular loss contribution that is similar to that of Y.B. Kim et al. (1963) and the model of C.P. Bean (1962) for the intragranular loss.

AC Losses in High-Tc Materials
1998Most anticipated applications of the high-temperature superconductors require that the material be subjected to time-varying or alternating applied currents and magnetic fields. To be economically competitive, the superconductor generally must have ac losses well below those in conventional materials such as copper.

AC losses in high-temperature superconductors
IEE Colloquium on `Practical Applications of High Temperature Superconductors', 1995Ceramic superconductors experience losses when carrying alternating currents. A practical situation of particular importance for the possible use of such superconductors in power apparatus is 50 Hz excitation at liquid nitrogen temperature (77 K). A theoretical investigation of the one-dimensional AC current flow and associated losses in a ribbon or ...

Ac Losses in Type-II Superconductors
1991This paper discusses the physics of ac losses in type-II superconductors and in multifilamentary superconducting-normal composite conductors. As an introduction, the ac eddy-current losses in a homogeneous normal conducting cylindrical specimen subjected to an alternating applied magnetic field are briefly reviewed.
