Preliminary study on AC superconducting machines
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1988Issues involved in developing AC superconducting machines are reviewed with respect to the development of a superconducting coil and the overcurrent protection system of a superconducting transformer. A 4-kVA superconducting coil using 100-A-class 50/60-Hz superconductors was made and tested.

Motion control with permanent-magnet AC machines
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1994Motion control techniques have been developed to exploit the high efficiency and extremely fast dynamic response capabilities of permanent-magnet AC (PMAC) machines. Control techniques are reviewed separately for the two major classes of PMAC machines referred to as trapezoidal (i.e., brushless DC) and sinusoidal machines.

AC electrical machines can act as generators to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy or motors to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. This chapter discusses synchronous machines, and induction machines. Example problems with solutions as well as actual problems in AC machines were also provided in the end of this chapter.

Applications of Superconductivity to AC Rotating Machines
1974The development of high-field superconducting wire, suitable for fabrication into windings for electric machines, presents the opportunity for significant improvements in rotating electric machines. Previously copper and iron have been the obvious materials to use.
