Generalized AC motor

1998
In the second part of the book we pursue our research on development of PBC for EL systems as applied to electromechanical systems. In this chapter we restrict our attention to the practically very important class of the generalized rotating electric machines [179,285]. The main contribution is the definition of a class of machines for which the output

AC Commutatorliess and Brushless Motor

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1972
We have developed a type of ac commutatorless motor which is a combination of a motor and thyristor controller. The rotor of the motor has neither a commutator, slip rings nor brushes. The motor can therefore be designed rugged for a high speed control.

An analysis of bearingless AC motors

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1994
Several types of AC bearingless motors are proposed. These bearingless motors have conventional four-pole stator windings and additional two-pole windings, whose currents produce radial forces acting on the rotor. General expressions of the machine inductances and radial forces are derived for the cylindrical rotor and salient-pole motors.

AC Circuits and Motors

2014
Alternating current (AC), varying sinusoidally at 50 Hz in Europe and Asia and 60 Hz in North America and Japan, is the dominant form of electric power. AC provides the continuously changing magnetic flux linkage needed for electrical transformation. Transformation allows transmission at high voltage and low current, reducing resistive loss with step ...

AC Motors and Generators

2020
As was stated in Chap. 5, translating electrical energy into motion is one of the oldest applications of electrical engineering. Both AC and DC motors have been utilized for this purpose. Previously, the universal motor (series connected DC motor) was introduced as a cheap motor that can operate on AC power.

AC induction motor efficiency

Proceedings of the 19th Electrical Electronics Insulation Conference, 2003
The author discusses those factors which determine the efficiency and rating of polyphase AC induction motors. The loss mechanisms are described and are related to the performance and design characteristics of the motor, such as the operating flux density, the winding turns distribution, the current density in the windings, the motor speed torque ...

AC Servo Motors

2009
AC motors are the first choice for constant speed applications and where large starting torque is not required. They are available in three or single phase. The smaller motors are for household applications and they are made for single phase operations.

Vector control of AC motors

[Proceedings] IEEE 1993 Annual Textile, Fiber and Film Industry Technical Conference, 2002
The standard AC induction electric motor is used in over 90% of all applications. However, the disadvantages of fixed-speed operation have led industrial users to seek and use other means to achieve variable speed drive operation. Recent developments in power semiconductors and microprocessors have resulted not only in economical advantages but also ...
