Charting New Paths in the Study of Kin Term Acquisition

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Kin terms appear among infants’ earliest words, yet a full mastery of kin concepts typically emerges only in late childhood. This prolonged developmental trajectory reflects not only children's acquisition of an abstract relational system of words, but also their growing understanding of social relationships and interactional norms.

Activity and Habitat Selection of an Apex Predator in Semi‐Arid Rangeland Production Areas: Implications for Optimising Management Efforts

open access: yesEcological Management &Restoration, Volume 27, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT In the complex interplay between agriculture and wildlife, free‐living predators pose a unique set of challenges. In western New South Wales (NSW), free‐living canids (legislatively defined as ‘wild dogs’; Canis familiaris; which currently includes dingoes, feral modern dogs and their hybrids) are managed due to their impacts on livestock ...

The Vegetation Integrity and Cost‐Effectiveness of Different Management Options for Grassy Woodlands in Urban Green Space

open access: yesEcological Management &Restoration, Volume 27, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Urban green space is important for conserving biodiversity in urban landscapes, however, the dominant management regime in urban green space (regular mowing) has relatively low biodiversity value. We explored if direct‐seeding (scrape and sow), planting (and mulching) and passive restoration are viable alternatives to regular mowing for ...

The allelopathic effects of Eucalyptus and Acacia plantations on the understory vegetation (Case study: Nourabad-Mamasani) [PDF]

open access: yesمجله جنگل ایران, 2013
Afforestation with native or non-native species affects understory vegetation. These effects, besides of edaphic and climatologic factors, also depend on the species of the plants which are used.

Optimal model‐based design of experiments for parameter precision: Supercritical extraction case

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 7, Page 3775-3795, July 2026.
Abstract This study investigates the process of chamomile oil extraction from flowers. A parameter‐distributed model consisting of a set of partial differential equations is used to describe the governing mass transfer phenomena in a cylindrical packed bed with solid chamomile particles under supercritical conditions using carbon dioxide as a solvent ...

Invasive plant species for compost production: Review of environmental and economic insights

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Quality, Volume 55, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract Invasive plant species pose significant ecological and economic challenges, threatening biodiversity and altering soil properties, while conventional control methods are often costly and resource‐intensive. This review examines the potential of composting invasive plant biomass as a viable and sustainable alternative that aligns with circular ...
