Genomic evidence for the widespread presence of GH45 cellulases among soil invertebrates
Abstract Lignocellulose is a major component of vascular plant biomass. Its decomposition is crucial for the terrestrial carbon cycle. Microorganisms are considered primary decomposers, but evidence increases that some invertebrates may also decompose lignocellulose. We investigated the taxonomic distribution and evolutionary origins of GH45 hydrolases,

Among carnivorans, mites of the family Demodecidae are mainly represented by the eight species of the genus Demodex known to cause demodecosis in domestic dog Canis lupus familiaris Linnaeus, 1758 and domestic cat Felis catus Linnaeus, 1758.

Developmental transcriptomic data support an unduplicated genome in a solifuge, disfavoring the traditional grouping of pseudoscorpions and camel spiders as Haplocnemata. Abstract Recent advances in higher‐level invertebrate phylogeny have leveraged shared features of genomic architecture to resolve contentious nodes across the tree of life.

A new replacement name in Rhagidiidae (Acariformes: Prostigmata: Eupodoidea)
The recently proposed name Sigthoria Ceccolini and Cianferoni, 2021 (replacement for the rhagidiid genus name Thoria Zacharda, 1980 nec Stål, 1864) turned out to be preoccupied (junior homonym of Sigthoria Koenike, 1907) and it needs to be changed. The substitute name Thorrhagidia Cianferoni and Ceccolini nom.n.

Abstract Trigonotarbida, an extinct order of spider‐like arachnids, were significant predators between the late Silurian and early Permian. Characterized by their segmented opisthosoma, clasp‐knife chelicera, and paired book lungs, they played a pivotal role in the formation of Early Devonian terrestrial ecosystems.

Here, we examine how ecological factors shape invertebrate diversity in ponds found in lava caves in Iceland. We specially focus on the importance of neutral and niche‐based processes. Abstract Understanding which factors shape and maintain biodiversity is essential to understand how ecosystems respond to crises.
