Review of fossil heterostigmatic mites (Acari: Heterostigmata) from late Eocene Rovno Amber. I. Families Tarsocheylidae, Dolichocybidae and Acarophenacidae

Systematic and Applied Acarology, 2021
The present article represents the first part of a review of fossil heterostigmatic mites collected from late Eocene Rovno amber. Here, mites of the families Tarsocheylidae, Dolichocybidae, and Acarophenacidae are described, with Tarsocheylidae and Dolichocybidae recorded for the first time from amber.

Effect of organophosphates on Acarophenax lacunatus (Prostigmata: Acarophenacidae) parasitising Rhyzopertha dominica (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae).

2003
AbstractThe interaction between the organophosphate insecticides fenitrothion and pirimiphos-methyl with A. lacunatus, an egg parasite of the stored grain pest R. dominica, was evaluated. Petri dishes containing 25 g of whole wheat grains (13% moisture content) were treated with insecticides (0.9, 1.8, 2.5, 5.0 or 10.0 ppm for fenitrothion, and 0.5, 1 ...

Description and Life History of Acarophenax mahunkai, n. sp. (Acari, Tarsonemina: Acarophenacidae), an Egg Parasite of the Lesser Mealworm (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

Annals of the Entomological Society of America, 1993
A new species of mite, Acarophenax mahunkai Steinkraus & Cross, n. sp., was discovered parasitizing eggs of the lesser mealworm, Alphitobius diaperinus (Panzer), a serious cosmopolitan poultry pest. Acarophenax mahunkai is an obligate, apparently host-specific parasitoid that kills the egg upon which it feeds.

Phoretic load of the parasitic mite Acarophenax lacunatus (Cross & Krantz) (Prostigmata: Acarophenacidae) affecting mobility and flight take-off of Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae)

Journal of Stored Products Research, 2009
Abstract Phoresy is the passive transport of an organism on the body of another from a different species, which is a beneficial adaptation for entomophagous arthropods to reach their hosts. Such an interaction occurs between the parasitic mite Acarophenax lacunatus (Prostigmata: Acarophenacidae) and its host, the lesser grain borer Rhyzopertha ...
