Effect of organophosphates on Acarophenax lacunatus (Prostigmata: Acarophenacidae) parasitising Rhyzopertha dominica (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae).

2003
AbstractThe interaction between the organophosphate insecticides fenitrothion and pirimiphos-methyl with A. lacunatus, an egg parasite of the stored grain pest R. dominica, was evaluated. Petri dishes containing 25 g of whole wheat grains (13% moisture content) were treated with insecticides (0.9, 1.8, 2.5, 5.0 or 10.0 ppm for fenitrothion, and 0.5, 1 ...

Description and Life History of Acarophenax mahunkai, n. sp. (Acari, Tarsonemina: Acarophenacidae), an Egg Parasite of the Lesser Mealworm (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

Annals of the Entomological Society of America, 1993
A new species of mite, Acarophenax mahunkai Steinkraus & Cross, n. sp., was discovered parasitizing eggs of the lesser mealworm, Alphitobius diaperinus (Panzer), a serious cosmopolitan poultry pest. Acarophenax mahunkai is an obligate, apparently host-specific parasitoid that kills the egg upon which it feeds.
