MAXIMAL ACCELERATION OR MAXIMAL ACCELERATIONS? [PDF]
We review the arguments supporting the existence of a maximal acceleration for a massive particle and show that different values of this upper limit can be predicted in different physical situations.

Unlike most cross-country growth analyses, we focus on turning points in growth performance. We look for instances of rapid acceleration in economic growth that are sustained for at least eight years and identify more than 80 such episodes since the 1950s.

Resonant third harmonic generation of super-Gaussian laser beam in a rippled density plasma
Resonant third harmonic generation of super-Gaussian laser beam in rippled density plasma is studied. Both the relativistic and ponderomotive nonlinearities are included in the analysis, and the study is done for self-guided laser beam.

Proton acceleration in analytic reconnecting current sheets [PDF]
Particle acceleration provides an important signature for the magnetic collapse that accompanies a solar flare. Most particle acceleration studies, however, invoke magnetic and electric field models that are analytically convenient rather than solutions ...

Structure and dynamics of the sudden acceleration of Kuroshio off Cape Shionomisaki [PDF]
A sudden acceleration of the Kuroshio jet appears off Cape Shionomisaki in the high-resolution (horizontal resolution of 1/36°) JCOPE 2 ocean reanalysis data. Using this dataset, we investigated the structure of the Kuroshio acceleration. The increase in

Effect of dust on tilted electrostatic resistive instability in a Hall thruster
Effect of negatively charged dust on resistive instability corresponding to the electrostatic wave is investigated in a Hall thruster plasma when this purely azimuthal wave is tilted and strong axial component of wave vector is developed.

Performance study of a new epoxy resin IR-3 in HTS-based high-field magnet application
REBCO (Rare-earth-based barium copper oxide) conductors are appropriate materials for high-field magnet applications. Vacuum impregnation using epoxy resin is a technique widely used for stable operation of superconducting coils.

Escape-limited Model of Cosmic-ray Acceleration Revisited [PDF]
The spectrum of cosmic rays (CRs) is affected by their escape from an acceleration site. This may have been observed not only in the gamma-ray spectrum of young supernova remnants (SNRs) such as RX J1713.7-3946, but also in the spectrum of CRs showering ...
