This study proposes a new methodology for producing metal matrix nanocomposites in the solid state. The process involves the plasma‐assisted thermochemical treatment of metallic alloy powders. As a proof‐of‐concept, TiN nanoparticles are synthesized directly on the surface of FeTi intermetallic powder particles, enabling the development of the ...

Neutrino physics at accelerators
Present and future neutrino experiments at accelerators are mainly concerned with understanding the neutrino oscillation phenomenon and its implications. Here a brief account of neutrino oscillations is given together with a description of the supporting data. Some current and planned accelerator neutrino experiments are also explained.

Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.

Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

In this work, a magnetic core‐shell catalyst (HOF‐on‐Fe3O4/ZIF‐67) is successfully synthesized, consisting of a metal–organic framework (ZIF‐67) with magnetic Fe3O4 as the core and a porous hydrogen‐bonded organic framework (HOF) as the shell. The catalyst efficiently activated peroxymonosulfate, resulting in rapid and effective removal of water ...

High-resolution laser spectroscopy of singly charged natural uranium isotopes
High-resolution collinear laser spectroscopy has been performed on singly charged ions of $$^{234,235,238}$$ 234 , 235 , 238 U at the IGISOL facility of the Accelerator Laboratory, University of Jyväskylä, in Finland. Ten ionic transitions from the $$^{4}
